Default Novak 17.5 SS Pro (silver and purple can)

Gents,

I have a 17.5 Novak SS Pro that I had in a touring car and wondered if it's worth putting in the Wraith. The Tenshock SC411 with the ESC I have is still acting up and I want to try something else.

Setup would be Mamba Max Pro and 17.5 Novak SS Pro on 2S with 56/12 gearing.

I re-read through the picking a motor thread and there were a few mentions about similar Tekin motors, but I don't know how those compare to the Novak.

Run it. You may have to essential with the gearing just a bit to keep the temps down. That motor will do fine in a wraith. But be prepared to upgrade parts of the drivetrain if you havent already.

Get your gearing closer to or over 5:1 and run 3s. Worked well for me

It's 56/12 right now which is 4.67 I think I have a 58 spur I could throw on there. It's funny because the motor seems slow in the touring car, but I guess in the Wraith it could work. It's my son's truck so I think he'll be ok on 2s for now. 3s is reserved for dad

Just slap an 11 tooth pinion on there and be done with it. You will more than likely need to play with the gearing a bit. Since everyone's rig is different the gearing that worked for one guy may not work for you. Just get a few different pinions and play with it. Then stick with whichever one runs the coolest.
