so the vattera twin has me thinking... if one was to make a KOH type truck based on the wraith (which it pretty much already is) to run in a G6 event, what could someone do to make the trans selective speed? basically make it to crawl or haul butt at the flick of a switch? would it be easier to do electronically or mechanically? i just realized it may just be mechanical. as much as id love to just use awesome mad throttle control, my fingers twitchy... |

Its been done. RC4WD makes a bolt-in two speed for the Wraith. The better (in my opinion) option is to use a Tekin Pro4 motor with a well built stock trans. That is what my new truck runs. Its truly amazing and I'm a believer. No need to two speeds. For a stock Wraith, it faster that it will handle. I've made several rigs with the Summit 2spd. Its works way better than the RC4WWD, but its not bolt-in. http://store.rc4wd.com/AX2-2-Speed-T...ho_p_2463.html Last edited by Lukefalls; 02-17-2013 at 12:11 AM. |

| Re: easy wraith tranny "?" Funny, my wife calls me a lot of things...genius is not one of them. Naw, I'm just sharing some knowledge from other with you. I was a firm believer in the 2spd until Harley wrote about how it was not necessary. I tried his way and have not looked back. The Tekin motor setup is lighter, cheaper, and has less moving parts to break. |

i agree about the single speed. my 2100kv on 4s gets up and goes but also goes slow and technical very well.

So when you say a built stock wraith trans are you following Harley guide and using an AX10 tranny? I to was looking at doing a 2 speed trans as well as a Pro 4 and MMP combo but if the top speed will be better running the brushless setup and I won't have to buy the 2 speed it'll be nice. I run the mmp pro4 combo with the rc4wd 2 Spd tranny and absolutely love it. When in low you have mega torque so if you bind up in the rocks it will crawl out without problems when I do this in high (which I have geared close to the stock wraith trans) it wants to shoot out of the rocks when you have given it enough throttle to overcome the bound up condition. So in the end both ways work but it's all about control. There's my 2 cents ;p

It's between the 2 speed and dig currently. See a valid use for both I think if the dig is going to be more useful in the rocks. Being as the stock Wraith turning sucks even with the axial universals instead of the horribly designed stock shaft. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2 |

MMP Pro4 3300kv 3s and dig is what I would run if I had to make a choice.

My opinion is I like having the option of the 2 speed transmission. Whether it is the best option or not is completely up to who ever is building their truck. I like the 2 speed for the ability to go fast, but use low end gearing of the tranmission when I need torque without over working the motor. Currently I have a 2800kv 4 pole with a 32pitch spur and pinion (60t spur and 11T pinion).
