Default Anyone running Pro4 4000kv?

Looking to change from the Tekin 17.5 turn with MMP in the Wraith, want more speed. It seems from searching, and from reading the entire "What powers your Wraith" thread, that the 3300kv is the popular choice but I do see some running the 4000kv. Any big disadvantage to the 4000? I currently run 4S and assume I will be dropping to 2S or 3S with the new motor.

I already have upgraded trans gears, MIP driveshafts, but will be upgrading lockers etc with the motor swap.

Any advice appreciated, and yes I know I will break parts with either, just looking for firsthand experience with the 4000.

Thanks!

4000kv will have less torque than the 3300. I have the 3300 and it's pretty damn fast and has lots of torque.

Didn't think about the torque aspect, very good point. I do still want to crawl somewhat but I'm more after a fast basher. I try to leave the crawling to the XR, its a little better at it

Ran one on my MT build. Just under 8lbs, RTR.

Running it in this rig now. Tons of wheel speed on this beast. And crawls great. A great combination if you ask me. Almost too much power!

Thanks Szczerba, was hoping to get some firsthand experience! After thinking last night I wonder if a little less torque might actually be a good thing for what I am after.

Right now, the 4000kv Pro4 on 3s in my sub 8lbs wraith buggy is kinda overkill. If I smash on the throttle and people are behind the truck, they need to have safety glasses on. I'll end up breaking parts if I don't turn down the throttle EPA.

That was another thought I had, just turn down the throttle EPA a bit when on high traction surfaces.

Great info guys, thanks again!

Or run a 3300 and have more torque and not have to de-tune the throttle.

^ x2 I have the 3300 and love it. At times I feel its a bit to fast but man it's fun. I say stick with the 3300. It'll be easier to keep cool and have a good amount more torque. I ran mine for 3 hours today and it wasn't even close to warm.

I run the 3300 pro 4 on 3s and it's pretty quick. Put a 4s pack in there and it's just stupid fast but can still crawl just as good.

I'm running 4000kv in my wraith and I love it even with 2s. I still have yet to figure out the gearing and I might bump up to 3s, as it seems that I'm not getting the same amount of speed as everyone else but overall it crawls great!

If you had the 4000kv already I'd say run her! But if you have to buy it the 3300kv is where it's at.
