| Anyone running the futaba PL3
Just wondering if anyone is running the futaba PL3 transmitter and receiver? Got one on the way and just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on them? |

2 position 3rd channel with no EPA could be limiting. What do you plan for channel 3? http://manuals.hobbico.com/fut/3pl-2...hss-manual.pdf I guess it does have epa & mixing. 2 position switch only tho, that is still a limiting factor for winches & trannys Now I am interested.. If you can mod the switch to a 3 position this would be good for me 2 Looks like it would be just what I need for 4WS without mod which is what I am leaning towards Last edited by Dostradamas; 02-28-2013 at 02:37 PM. |

I am looking at running a winch. And the way I read it I could also run a rear steer that would be non-proportioning

Looks like either rear steer or winch with controller for 2 position switch only (unless you get creative on the truck ie a switch to toggle chan 3 from rear steer to winch)

I started out with a 3PL for my SCX10. I discovered the shortcomings discussed above and ended up getting a 4PL for the SCX10. The 3PL got moved to the Exo which only needs two channels. I would either go with the 4PL if you need mixing and a 3 position channel for controlling the winch or the hacked GT3B from Overkill RC if you just need a 3 position channel for the winch. You might check to see what costs are involved in returning the 3PL. I really wish that I had sent mine back. Last edited by k7zpj; 02-28-2013 at 04:56 PM. |

I got the 3pl second hand from the classifieds. Its not shipped yet but I don't think he would take it back. I seriously doubt I will go with rear steer but do you think it will work for just the winch?

You can make it work. Checkout the 2 position winch controller from Heyok. Winch Controller for Radio with 2 Position Third Channel |

I got my winch and my pl3 the other day and over the weekend I had time to swap the receiver and hook the winch controller up. The winch is controlled by the 3rd channel which is a 3 position switch and it's simple in and out. There is still a channel for the 4 wheel steering. |
