Default New Bumper... In Need Of D-Rings

So I built a new much more stout bumper out of some Stainless Rod and Steel 3/4" tube. I added some tabs to the ends with two different sized holes. I have looked at RC4WD's website and I want to get a set that will be close to scale. Has anybody been able to break any of the Mini King Kong D-Rings? Anybody ever make some out of cotter pins ??

Here is the thread on how to make them from cotter pins.
cheap shackles...

The secret is to get cotter pins that are made out of softer metal. I found some large ones made from aluminim and they worked great.

I used a 2M screw to minimize the hole I had to drill in the pin

For the time spent messing around making your own I think it would be just as easy to order some from rc4wd

Ordering is easier but I agree it is nice to make your own parts sometime. Here is one of the ones I made on my XJ. I think it cost .47 for two cotter pins from Lowes. I had the small hardware in my parts bin already.
