Default Questions About VP Tierods & VP Steering Arms

I have vp knuckles and racing ackerman steering arms on my wraith and i'm thinking about getting the vp tierod and drag link, but i'm not sure if i need the racing ackerman tierod,or the 3/16 tierod. Will either one work with the racing ackerman steering arms? I appologize if this has been covered already, thanks.

To be honest those racing ackerman arms are a joke!! I had them but was lucky enough to exchange for regular ones. A Wraith really doesn't need racing ackerman setup. It is happy with the regular stock style arms and use 3/16" tie rod and drag link. Just my nickels worth!! Canada doesn't use pennies anymore, hehehe

If you use racing ackerman you can only use racing ackerman tierod. The 3/16" will never adjust wheel alignment correctly!

So what exactly do you not like about them?? Ive got that setup on the front of mine and it works fine as long as you use the right tierod.

Maybe I had a bad batch but when I bought my racing ackerman arms and tierod I could not get the wheels even close to straight!! The wheels were toed out so bad even with full tightness on the revo rod ends. It sucked big time on my Wraith. I know VP has had some issues with tierods and even arms so maybe mine were not the right batch even though they both said racing ackerman.

If they work for some of you then that is great but I was not happy at all and glad to exchange for the others.

WRAITH Racing Ackerman Steering Arms

It is funny how the VP website video doesn't even show racing ackerman arms...they are the stock arms.

What is the main reason to run racing ackerman? Is it for rim clearance?

You must have had the standard tierod trying to work with racing ackerman arms. That wont work obviously. The racing ackerman makes the inside tire turn more then the outside tire. Its for handling but i agree it doesnt help alot since a wraith will turtle at any sort of speed anyways

So i take it either tie rod set-up will work and have plenty of toe-in/toe-out adjustability?

Yes just don't mix and match racing ackerman with regular.

I call my one Wraith "Flipper" is flips on a dime because of the speed factor. Oh well fun times!!
