Default Help with motor choice on RC4WD AX2 2 Speed. Gear ratios provided

So using the specs from a stock SCX10 tranny and going with what I know as far as what a 35T looks like with a 2.6 Ratio trans, I need to figure out what size motor to run. The new tranny is 32pitch so I need to figure what my largest spur and smallest pinion visa versa so I can figure what my ranges are. Now I have an SC10 with a 14/87 pinion /Spur and running a 35t and the tranny is 2.6:1. This new two speed is almost 5:1 but the high gear seems at 1.78:1

Doing the math further, I"m currently at a 16.1 : 1 final ratio on the SCX10. The new two speed and its current gearing would put me at 7.2 : 1 and 20.2 : 1 as final ratios.

SCX10 : 14/87 = 6.21:1 times that by 2.6 and I get 16:1 final

Wraith : 15/60 = 4:1 so 4 X 1.78 = 7.12:1 and 4 X 5.05 = 20.2 :1 the difference is 2.83

I'm happy with a 16:1 w a 35 Turn on 3S. So what brushless motor would I need to make me happy with a 20:1 ratio? Also I should redo this maybe with a different Spur/pinion combo. Put me in the middle of the range so I have some wiggle room. I just haven't been able to figure out what fits.

RC4WD AX2 2 Speed
  • 15T 32P Steel Pinion
  • 60T 32P Delrin Spur
  • Gear ratio Pinion/Spur ratio = 4:1
  • 2 Speed
  • Wide Steel 48 pitch internal gears
  • 1st Gear Ratio = 5.05:1
  • 2nd Gear Ratio = 1.78:1

Thank you ussprinceston

Ask a technical question around here and its crickets. Post the 1,000,000th wraith build and its a 10 page thread.

Does anyone have an ide on what turn/KV motor I should run? Guess I'm going to try the 13.5 Redline I have laying around.
