| bad handling wraith
I have tried everything I can think of to make a wraith handle good. It rolls over way to easy. I had sway bars and vp axles and cms short shaft shocks I moved the battery from the front to the back. Also I used crawler intervention foam in the tires. It has a 3300kv pro brushless motor on 3s lipo and it rolls over more than it stays up. Any ideas on how to get these to handle at speed. Over 2000 invested and its beat so bad I need to redo the body and frame again. |

It's not a short course truck. You need to understand the limitations of the style and intention of the truck. |

Not a skill issue. I have been running Rc cars for over 20 years. My HPI Baja 5b's well go side ways at 40 mph and not roll. The wraith rolls at 10mph. I almost think the whole problem is the motor. It winds up so fast and the center of gravity is high on this car. Maybe a brushed motor would help.

I think your asking too much from your rig!!! I have the same set up and can get it to go in a straight line (which takes some getting used to) but cornering on anything that isn't a loose surface will cause it to roll. Just the nature of the design of the rig. Be happy you can crawl it and with the squeeze of a finger launch it off a rock or through the mud easily!!!

Have you tried adding any weight to your wheels or flip any of the shock mounts yet?

Yes I have flipped the shock mts. I just put the stock plastic axles back on the rig and I put the VP axles and trans on my AX10. I think you are right about expecting to much out of the rig as far a handling goes. I really like the looks of the wraith, I have two of them but one is only for rock crawling. The more I think about it the more I think its the motor. I is like a banshee on nitro. Thanks for your help. I think I well get a Holmes motor and forget about going fast with it.

Try putting some different tires on it as most of us run a high grip tire. Any type of speed on a solid surface will make it grab as that is what the tires are designed to do. Think about a short course setup for loose dirt, then take it on to the road and it will flip !!!!!!. Its all in how you drive it

you would need smaller tires and stiffer suspension as well as lowering it.

Most crawler tires are soft and will fold under in a hard turn, then the springs and shocks are set up for flex, they too will let the rig tip to the side in a fast turn, it's a crawler not a short course truck, 10 mph is flying with a wraith

Just buy knuckle weights, rear axle weights and add weight to your wheels. It will still flip over but with that much weight down low it should land on its wheels 50% of the time!.....

A solid axle relatively light weight high center of gravity rig doesn't handle as well as a heavy fully independent suspension buggy with a lower center of gravity. I for one am shocked.

I went out and bought a 2s lipo brick for the back of the wraith and changed the tires back to stock. It had RC4WD swamper's on it. I only run it in the dirt. With the two s battery it handles better because of less violent acceleration. And I agree I am looking for a high speed rock rig. and this isn't it. Its a lot of fun playing with them and trying to get more out of them. Oh the VP axles work great on the AX10. They hold it down with the extra weight.

I went with 40 series wheels and tires cause i was so tired of rolling and flopping and getting high centered on silly stuff. Otherwise I would have gotten rid of my wraith by now. But then again I only run slow speed crawling. It wouldn't survive with a high speed motor and 40 series wheels and tires. If you are running medium speed dirt, go get a maxx, revo, or summit. You will be much happier. If you stay with the wraith, put a slower motor in it and acknowledge the limits of the design. People like to be "scale" but I've never seen a 1:1 crawler do 120mph, roll 4 times and keep going.

Weights in the tires or knuckle weights and lower the rig to where there is about 1/4" down travel in the shocks.

If you lower the wraith, you won't be able to climb over a shoe.

Slammed? How slammed are we talkin? Im sure we can all get over a shoe, but i wasn't impressed with a low ride height. Way too much high centering when crawling and choosing the proper line. Dropping it helps keep it upright, but high centering becomes an issue. When they make a 1/8 or 1/6 scale wraith, I will be all over it. Until then, 3" of clearance under the belly ain't enough for me. Ill go run my emaxx before i resort to that.
