Default Wraith Kit

First package has arrived. Looking forward to this build. I have been out of surface vehicles for many years.

Congrats!

I'm always happy to see people adding BEC's for their high voltage servos - I wish I'd jumped on that band wagon years ago

Enjoy!

I can't get this VP tie rod to clear the diff cover... all parts up front are stock kit parts except the VP tie rod and drag link. It's not the racing one either. Angled up above the diff it's worse than riding directly in front of it.

Any suggestions?

What about mounting the tie rod ontop of the steering arms? Then possibly some minor trimming to the diff covers' "ribs" if needed.

I had put the tie rod above before (it clears lock to lock) but it seems that the drag link will bind at servo throw. I was holding off on adding the electronics till the end, but i guess I will mount the servo and see if it works freely or not. I was thinking that I was just missing something and it was an easy fix.

Vanquish shows the tie rod on the bottom and the drag on top. it even states on the description:

"Vanquish Products Titanium Steering Tie Rod for Axial Wraith.

New version adds more adjustablilty at the rod end (does not rub Differential Cover when C-hubs are clocked).

Direct replacement to fit stock and VP Wraith steering arms."

The description sounds like plug and play....

Thanks,
John

After installing the servo and horn, it appears that should work. Keeps the tie rod up and out of the way. Not a lot of room there. I will have to keep an eye on it so it doesn't bind.

Still curious if others have had problems with this set up?

Enjoy,
John

I'm glad you pointed this out - I had just installed mine on the VP knuckles. Hadn't checked the clearance, because I assumed that it would be perfect due to having the entire VP front end kit.

It looks like if the casters are swung forward a bit it might allow for a little more clearance, but that gets into a whole different set of adjustments.

I'm interested to hear how it goes with the VP knuckles.

I'll definitely update after I get it all together. I had already moved on when I saw your post.

I recall Harley doing something in a video (PS budget build???) with the link to get it to hold itself up. I'll do some searching and see if I can find it.

It's a spare pole, just in case one of the other poles goes flat.

Holding the end of the link and pulling up or pushing down on the tie rod kind of "sets" position. I remember seeing that on his video and others.

i just finished building my kit, i got the rc4wd linkage, and i didnt have any clearance issues looks like the exact same links, maybe the VP doesnt have enough angle bent in it. the thing turns on a dime too!

Did you mount the rc4wd tie rod below and the the drag above the steering arms?

It does appear that the VP doesn't have enough bend in my case.

Took it out for a test drive yesterday in my woods. I was nothing short of amazed! After 20 minutes of running the dry creek bed I headed for the steepest part of the revine that is washed out with scattered roots and branches. Couldn't get it stuck! Good times

Put the body on today.
