Default Gears for Axles

Getting ready to buy gears for my axles on my build. There are three different ones to choose from. Which ones would be best setup, should I mix them up or should I keep them the same front and rear.

38/13
36/14
43/13

Thank You

Jeff

What pitch are these gears? Also what motor and battery set do you have?

That is some info others may get to give you a proper gear assessment.

I am going to run a Homes 13t CrawlMaster with 3s Lipo’s so pretty powerful. I went with a 32p 56/12. I also have 10, 11 and a 13 pinion to test out.

It depends. Dedicated crawler: 36 front, 43 rear. Trail running: 38 front, 43 rear.

Doh........ I feel like a ID10T....!

So you were talking differential gears. Your post makes total sense to me now.

Sorry for my confusion.

I'll be doing more trail running than I would be doing any crawling. Maybe little crawling though. Might need two rigs.

Thank You

OD the front and HD stock ratio in rear. Works good for me under same driving conditions.

UD rear and stock front makes more sense than stock rear and OD front. More reduction in the axles takes stress off the drive line ahead of the axles and will further decrease torque twist. You want your torque multiplication to happen as late in the drivetrain as possible.

Agreed!

After ruining 2 od gears in the front of mine, I simply run stock gear ratio in the front..

The ud and stock have lots of gear mesh, to where the od gears have very little teeth from pinion gear touching the ring gear.

I even blew a set of od out of my 2.2s running a 13t Team pro crawl motor.. ridiculous power!

I prefer not to lose speed in a trail truck. I'd rather give the front a little boost in speed. As tiny of a difference as it may be, it's still there. I do it that way with everything that doesn't spend a lot of time on the rocks. My wraith for instance, has no noticeable torque twist already so I'm not concerned about that. It's also slightly closer to stock ratio compared to the UD gears. Better for those times when I might have to drive on pavement or hard packed dirt.

I wasn't saying to run a lower overall ratio. Just that getting the reduction as late in the drivetrain as possible is the strongest/most efficient. If the overall ratio stays then same you won't loose any speed.

If you run overdriven in the rear and standard in the front
you will find your wraith does much better donuts and sometimes thats more important than crawling

Almost like standing on the brake pedal and your right foots on the floor.

I've ran under drive rear over drive front axial and hr gears I've blown and warn out mylruplecsets.

I'm now back to stock ratio on each end and can't tell the difrence
