| Help with bomb proof trans
I am following the bomproof build. I purchased the trans and a holmes hobbies motor. I was putting the new 6mm ends on for the MIP drive shaft and ran into a problem. The set screws do not go in flush with the end and on one side this causes a problem as it hits the trans case and wont rotate around. Is this a normal problem or did I do something wrong. How do you take care of this, grind the set screw down? Thanks for any comments.

^^ That's a different set screw than the ones that come with the 6mm ends.

Use blue locktite and just grind the pin flush to the 6mm end.

| Re: Help with bomb proof trans TRAXXAS Screw pin for MIP 6mm Ball ends - Super Shafty "IF" you have the 6mm outputs and 6mm MIPs. You will want to use the above link. This will create a flush mount for the set pin/screw. The MIP cup might rub on the cover. If so take a dremel and dremel out that section. Or run without. You can also look at Harley's builds and youtube channel to view the same issues and ideas that he has faced. |

Thanks, you guys eased my concerns and I was able to just grind the screw down so there is no more issue.

6mm ends aren't needed.

| Re: Help with bomb proof trans An explanation might be appreciated. The stock trans outputs are 5mm, upgrading to the 6mm Bomb Proof are obviously 6mm outputs. The MIB kit is for stock and the 6mm ends are an option. I was wondering if you can drill out the 5mm ends to 6mm? Of course, probably have to clean the threads/retap. |

Yep the bomb proof outputs are 6mm, so yes they are required. The stock 5mm mip hubs can be drilled out to 6mm without issue. A drill press would be best but I've done them by hand.
