Power system for 3yr old?

I am in the process of building a wraith with scx10 axles for my 3yr old son.
I am not sure what system to go with though.....not something too fast for him since he really doesn't have the skills yet. I have a traxxas xl-10 esc and a original mamba max esc. I am not too worried about drag brakes for him yet. I also have a integy 55t lathe motor I am thinking of using. What do you guys think?

1) xl-10 and 55t
2) mamba and 55t

Or should I maybe go mamba and Holmes Trailmaster sport 540 and let him just rip
or maybe even a tekin fxr/35t combo

Cheap, easy and won't be too fast or break anything.. xl10 and 55t on 2s.

Def XL-10 and 55T. I've had very good experiences with Traxxas electronics. Training mode dials it down to 50%.

I have a 35t on 2s for from brother running 20/80 gearing on my wraith hes 5 and handles it preaty good slow enough to teach him and he can always go 3s when he needs alittle more speed.

my son is 5 and I have a Axial 20T and Mamba Max on 2S and he's fine with !

Use the mamba max and dial it down to what you like. Training mode will not give you the power you need to climb over things...not even speed bumps. Hehe

My 2 1/2 yr old has an AE-2 wit a 20t and I installed he 14/87 gears. He does great with it.

I just turn back trottle/reverse end points on my radio for my 3 year old to drive. 30-50% is enough.

Tekin 45t Hd motor with the FXR esc is a good starting point.
You can play with the gearing to adjust the speed/ control even more.

Thanks guys, I completely forgot about traxxas having the training mode, the xl-10 has been sitting new in the box for years. I think I will give the xl a shot, might use the 55t first and if that is too slow, probably grab a holmes trailmaster for under 15 bucks and use the training mode......maybe lol

i built my 3 year old a 1.9 wraith a couple weeks ago and ended up using a vaterra twin hammers esc with a 45t epic motor on 2s.

it's perfect for him.
the only thing i wish I would have done was a slipper clutch... he keeps ripping driveshafts out of it because he runs it into something and doesn't let off the throttle fast enough.
