Default Noob needing a diagnosis

Son I have a wraith running a Timbuk 2 each and the paired 13.5t motor from the same company. I ran it today and its started acting odd. Ill start it up and it acts fine but if I let off the throttle it stops and won't go forwards or reverse but the steering will work fine. Is that my esc acting up or the controller or what. I charged and checked all my batteries and its still acting up so im askining the rc crawler gurus for help on this one.

Are you running Nickel metal batteries? If you are, make sure the LIPO CUTOFF setting it turned off on the ESC

i reset them and it didn't change. it acts like its the transmitter( think that this piece that goes with the radio) it normally makes noise and it'll stop occasionally and thats when it won't go drive or reverse. i noticed some water in the box where its mounted just now as well. and it seems that when it messes up if you keep jabbing the radio forward and reverse back and forth it will work but when you try and crawl the trans grinds and it stops again.

no I'm running lipo 2s 4400mah 7.4v

any pointers you can give me of things to look for? like torn gears loose parts etc.?

pull the motor from the transmission and see if everything works correctly.

i think its the receiver. i took the motor away from trans and checked both. trans is fine but if i free spin the motor by hand its rough but i don't know if thats normal since it has a drag brake or if it should spin free. i ran the motor unattached and it works fin but would stop and and id have to keep messing with the controller to get it to go. and when it would stop if i held it in drive the esc would eventually start flashing at me. so….im lost

If you suspect water in the reciever get a cup of dry rice and take the reciever apart and cover it in the rice. Let it sit in the rice overnight to suck out any moisture collect on the board. I have had this happen a few times on my electronics and the rice has worked every time. Also buy a bottle of corrosionX and take apart all your electronics and dunk the boards in the corrosionX. This will completly waterproof them!

^ this guy is awesome lol thanks. i checked the manual on the timbuk2 troubleshooting and it said if servo works motor doesn't than its receiver damage. so ill try the rice. where can i buy corrosion x? does it have to be from an rc shop

ok well i cleaned the receiver and dried it out with rice and still hasn't changed. called the rc shop and he said with the novak ballistic brushless motor I'm running it could be a sensor wire or the timing in the motor. idid some more mess in with it and noticed that when it binds up with the motor and tranny un mounted, that if i spin the spur gear it will start working. i tried readjusting the slack between pinion and spur and it still happens. Any new ideas fellas? needing help bad lol

Check the connectors, I had to change them in my wraith, it was acting funny, cutting out and stuff. Turned out the standard connectors couldn't handle the lipo. I put Traxxas style connectors in.

got this problem fixed actually. turns out the timbuk2 esc went on the fritz. bought a MMP and worked great till it slipped off a root and over into a water hole lol. didn't damage my MMP though but fried my receiver. i run a flysky gt3b radio and receiver and i already had an extra put it and it won't bind. did some research and a lot of the receivers turn out to be duds when you buy em which sucks. I'm anxious to get my crawling again. so bad infact that i got another wraith today lol. this is quickly becoming more of an addiction than my other hobby of building 1:1 crawlers.
