| Kinda new with a few questions
I bought a used Wraith little over a year ago, well I have replaced about everything on it in the year since, here is a list of things done, but I may have missed something Fast back mod 1/4" VP steering links 1/4" VP suspension links VP CMS Savox 1283 servo Axial horn full set of Fast Eddie bearings STRC knuckles, C-hubs and lock outs Axial universals ARP diff covers home made steel beef tubes in axle housings Gmade 103 piggybacks MIP drive shafts diff skids from vendor on here pro line swampers Integy wheels full stainless screw set don't remember brand Dinky hood (but not real happy with it, it cracks very easy) opening hood mod with traxxas batt pins, and fishing lure leads to hold the clips home built box to house the electronics front batt mod with stock batt tray Holmes BRXL water proof BEC Spectrum RX water proof , with a DX3E RX cheap 21 turn fireball motor Plus lots of little mods to suit my taste like red seats, black textured body, ect.... well now I'm ready to upgrade the axles and gears, I have been eyeing the RC4WD center diff rear and offset front housings, but have a question will my STRC C hubs and lock outs fit them ?? Next I figured I will buy new gears and I'm just a basher weekend warrior guy, but want steel gears thinking stock ratio? opinions on that ?? Then I'm thinking about the HR one piece lockers to add to the mix, at $15 each I'm liking the price, thoughts on them? The trans is going to be next on the list, along with new spur and pinion gears after I figure out gearing motor runs a bit hot, can't remember what gearing is in it right now, but will be tearing it down soon if I buy the axles. Here are a few pics of my rig, let me know what you think. |

Would you be interested in making another box? I like the way that looks.

The rc4wd housings come with special c-hubs and lockouts and are different from axial, strc and vp. so no go for you strc stuff on those with out mods. For gears, performance wise, over drive(36/14) in the front and under drive(43/13) in the rear are great for sharp turning and steep climbs, I have no issues blasting around on 3s with my pro4 either, but I'm not running it hard all day. Those HR lockers are great, cheap, light weight, and as strong as can be! I've had good luck with the HR trannys too.

The box is one I bought of Ebay that was close to fitting and I cut it in to quarters then glued it back together, it took a few hours to make it fit nice but worth it I think, after it dried a few days I sanded and primed it, till the lines where gone, then painted it with textured paint the same as this hood well the whole body is painted like this, kinda a rino lined look. The box is screwed from the bottom in the rear and through the shock mounts on the sides, it also stiffened up the shock mounts, helping tie the back of the cage all together. |
