Oh wow.. This is awesome!

For those that don't already know.. I'm not going to make it to Axialfest this year. :( Went into business for myself, and am using the funds I had saved up for business expenses instead. Thing's are going good so far! Will make the next one tho.

On the plus side, this gives me more time to keep tinkering with this and get it tuned before then.

Is that really a Cannonade motorcycle in the background? How do you like it? That project and bad management put Cannondale out of business- made them ripe for a buyout at the least. They have been making strong bikes again lately.

It is a Cannondale x440s. the bike is torn down to put a shorter rear shock in it. Well a spacer inside the stock shock.
Trying to take 3 inches out of the seat height. This bike was from Florida. Then the motor was out of my quad. I also own a few Cannondale quads. My baby has a 495cc stroker motor. The issues that bankrupted the company over these, have been fixed and are reliable machines now.
Anyway back to the goat.

Those pictures just don't do Werty's work justice. The additions he did are jaw dropping, and inspiring. It really changes the look and over all attitude of the build. So much so that I've now got a growing list of additions to do to this before I can put it together for a test run.

On the downside.. I dug out my camera to snap some pics of the rough mock up of the skid & suspension mounted up, only to find the batteries died during the down time. So you folks will have to wait till tomorrow for pictures!

Hey Werty! What size rod did you use on this? Don't have my calipers handy. Also, expect a phone call after Axialfest.

Oh.. look, photographic proof this build isn't dead! It's a miracle!



I'm loving everything that was done to it.



The front end was completely redone. Werty felt that it wasn't stout enough to handle any sort of rough impact, and chopped off the bumper entirely. He rebuilt it using thicker rod, adding in a short stinger and doing a much nicer job than I had.



The front exo is completely removable. I love his idea to make everything modular.. It bolts to the removable skids.




The rear bumper will now support the swar bar. Gives me extra clearance with the shocks, while protecting it. It's also made so I can swap it with any bumper on the market.




I'm considering making a custom skid so I can suck the rear in back towards the center about an inch. I'm not happy with the look of the wheelbase..



And I can't leave all the good work to the professionals out there. But his work is inspiring me to attempt a rear modular exo. Already bought the matterials needed! There might be a front bumper in there somewhere as well to protect my steering linkages from terrible driving..

Dusted it off and tacked some plates in tonight. Bought my cousin a wraith from the forums, and I'm feeling motivated to get this going.



Put a plate on each side to hold dual 3s batteries saddle style. Nice snug fit, they won't fall out by themselves. Will run a strap across the back to hold them in.



Put in a front bulkhead. It's been clearanced (Ball pin hammer baby! ) to clear the input shaft on the trans. Will also work as a splash shield / guard.

Jedi of the RC multi-verse felt a disturbance in the force tonight as I moved this build yet another step away from being a Wraith.. (Translation: Hey you guys! Guess what?!)

I cut the forward part of the cabs cage off tonight to better clear the Mojave cab and allow me to run the full Mojave interior. Sorry guys, no pictures till tomorrow. (And there goes my view counts for this post. )

But the good news is I'm not going to leave a hard body roof without protection. (Meanwhile in California, Werty is face palming and cursing my name. ) So off to make and email a sketch of what I want fabbed next!

Oh, and I did get a new cab in to replace the damaged one.


I may have ordered the detailed Mojave interior for this, with the panels..

I also had a chance to take this on another test drive with the saddle pack batteries and etc. It flies in high gear! Very fun. Has plenty of low end control in low gear for crawling, and seems to handle very well. I need to get some stiffer springs for the rear tho, tends to ride just above the axle.

Agreed, it does. Think once I'm finally satisfied with the chassis I'll send it off for powdercoat. Probably go with a silver color, or something bright so it's easily recognized / easy to find damage on if something breaks. (Same as they do on the 1:1's. Black painted tubes and cracks after roll overs and etc don't mix.)

Today's project. Took the militant wheels I bought awhile back, rattle canned them black, then spent a few hours reassembling them. Not sure if I'm happy with their look yet, but I do like that they are narrower than the integy wheels. Makes the tires stand up a bit better, and helps the foams support the weight better.

I know the paint will scrape off easily, that's apparent when assembling them. But I'm aiming for a junkyard dog look, and I think more wear will help.
