| 1.9 vs 2.2 wraith
Still waiting on Tower Hobbies to get the Wraith kit back in stock, so I have kept reading on the forum. I have seen several threads on "Another 1.9 Wraith". I know the difference between the two is the tire size. My question is what are the advantages/disadvantages of one or the other? Or, is it just personal preference for the "look" of the Wraith. Any performance gains for one or the other? Thanks in advance! |

Id say its pretty much just personal preference but there are some instances where the 1.9's come out on top because of the shorther width. Also, in my opinion, they just look wayyy better and wayyy more scale - Richard |

The Wraith comes with AR60 axles and when you go down to 1.9 you would use SCX10 axles.

One of my biggest beefs with the Wraith is the 1/9 scale body, 1/8 scale wheelbase and track width, and 1/7 scale axles Going about 1" shorter w.b. with a standard offset 1.9 and 4.75" tires looks somewhat similar to putting 1 ton axles and extending the w.b. of a real rig and then running 42" tires. The axles still look just a bit wide, which is where the SCX axles come into play. If I finally go through with my conversion, I'll probably shoot for a 12.5-13" w.b. with the SCX axles and some 4.5" tires. |

Performance wise, a properly set up 2.2 will whoop a 1.9 on the rocks. I've ran my 1.9 with a few 2.2's and could hang all day long, but that's mild rocks and mostly trails. I converted to 1.9 for the look. Love the looks of a 1.9! When I did convert, I actually wanted to use a set of Bruiser axles for an even better look, but wanted durability more. |

I built a 1.9 because I already had scx10 axles but if I had a choice I still think I would give up performance for scale looks.

I think they look better with 1.9 wheels...the 2.2's just don't look quite right. I plan on building a 1.9 wraith at some point just so expensive to get the parts to New Zealand it cost around $650 nz dollars to get my rtr wraith sent here from the states

lets just say I dont miss the AR60s and 2.2s one bit 1.9 wraiths are more scale, especially to a KOH type rig...which is what i was going for. Heres the raptor with the stock drivetrain and here is the 1.9 conversion. Its quickly becoming one of my favorite rigs. |

The 2.2 wraiths got shown up on one obstacle at a recent local GTG. There was a tight side hill line and the wider rigs had to have the up hill tires too far up the side hill to not slip off the edge and were rolling because of it. That was the only time the 1.9s had an advantage all day.
