Default Wraith Transmitter/reciever/esc? Problem

Ok, Ill start off with, this is my first serious RC car so I am brand new to this stuff. It has all stock electronics.

I bought a Wraith used online... and I am having some problems with it. I put a freshly charged 2s 7.2v 2500mAh battery in it (tested 7.63v) and fresh controller batteries, and started to run it.

It seems to not get very good reception, and is in and out of control. Once it gets about 20ft away, it stops and starts beeping until I get closer. Even then it is all over the place, I have to mess with the remote by going to front to back and steer left to right to get it to come back on. To me it just acts like it is loosing signal. It has been doing this since I took it out of the box.

Any ideas? Receiver? Controller? ESC? connections?

Id really appreciate any help.

Check all of the connections: Battery connector (It's best to use a Deans plug with a LiPo), Motor connectors (best to use Deans with this connection too), and the receiver plug.

It would also be good to do a re-calibration, just to check off another possibility.

I disassembled the car yesterday and cleaned all the connections. Also reset the ESC, it seemed to help, but didn't completely fix it. How far away should I be able to control the car?

If you battery was freshly charged why was it only at 7.63v?

Sounds like it just needed a BEC...
