Default WB8 HD WILDBOAR DRIVESHAFTS on Wraith

After having twisted both my Wraith driveshafts I'm looking for something more robust. Somebody suggested to use the eMaxx driveshafts, I have them, I couldn't try yet but I suspect they are not compatible with the transmission cover in the front. I think their diameter is too big and there is not enough space between the output shaft and the cover.

Everytime I open Rccrawler I can see a banner about the Scx10 Falken with the WB8 HD WILDBOAR DRIVESHAFTS and they seem more robust than original Wraith ones. Are they completely compatible ?
Can I buy AX31114 and use the male shaft with the Wraith female ?
Do you thing it is a good idea ?
Do I need other pieces ?

Thanks
Filippo

U could buy the wraith MIPS or junfacs. I have junfacs they bolted right up no problem.
The scx10 shafts will be too short I think.
U could buy a new set of wraith stock shafts u would need 2 sets I think though and use 4 female ends and cut the end off the male a put it in the 2 females so its a free floating spline in the 2 females.
Junfac 90029 is the ones I have. I've beat the piss out of them with no problems.

Since the male end of the stock driveshafts are hollow I found a piece of solid rod that is a tight fit and pressed it in there. Haven't had a problem yet on mine.

Sorry, but I cannot understand if the 3pc hd's you speak about are actually the AX31114. Maybe 3pc stays for 3 pieces !?

3 piece means two female ends and one splined center.

Scx shafts will fit a wraith.

I run my regular Wildboars with a 4 pole brushless. I've mounted a female to both joints and have a floating male in between, with a 6mm allthread inserted. This is about the same design as the newer HD design. Have hold up to much abuse now. All parts needed comes with the kit, it's a free mod.

I run both the old wild boar and the new updated 3pc hd and I like that the new hd come with 3 different length female and male pieces that allow for different wb lenghts

Looks like there will be Wildboar Drive shafts for the wraith soon. The new Spawn Wraith that has them, so they will most likely come out separately at some point.

Here is the part Axial Racing - WB8-HD Driveshaft Looks like the same as the Yeti. I'm not sure if you would also need the bigger coupler? If that was the case, you might as well buy Junfac or MIP

My first idea was to upgrade only the male shaft from the inexpensive AX31114. I have now learnt that the improvement of WB8 HD over the WB8 is not limited to that part but probably the greater one is in the joint. Most pieces are now more robust, as the pin which is now 2mm instead of the previous 1.5mm. I suspect that pin will be the next weak point I'm going to discover.
There is a special kit AX31133 for building two complete (?) WB8 HD driveshafts, it is definitely the right way to upgrade, but it is expensive.
At this point I don't know any more if buying the WB8 HD or some other full metal driveshafts.
Any advices ?

Thanks
Filippo

i have installed the Emaxx drive shafts, all you have to do is. drill out the center of the yoke to match the pinion of the transmission and the axle. also you have to cut down the length of the drive shaft. there cheep and very strong. i have not seen a problem with this set up

Anyway I cannot mount it in the front because there no room due to the transmission cover.
In the front I don't want to remove the transmission cover. Don't think I can dremel some parts for having the clearance.

Anyway before spending more than 50$ for WB8 HD I can rethink about it, I have spare emaxx shafts

Mine are getting awfuly sloppy. Havent taken them apart yet but there's considerable movement in the front shaft.

Been happy with mip's in my other rig. Cost and weight suck.

Here the spur is a 54T 0.8 mod. As you can see the clearance between the spur and the e-maxx shaft is not very much, and the spur is the smallest I can reasonably mount.
I think the e-maxx shaft is a good and cheap choice for the rear but it is not the best solution in the front.
