Default Vanquish housing question

Looking for feedback on the vanquish axle housing. I read somewhere that the threads strip out. That's the only thing holding me back from the purchase. Anyone running them with success? I'm running a brushless system and drive my trucks pretty hard...

I have been using them for awhile now, brushless ROC412 3100kv powered, nothing stripped out or damaged yet...

I run them with my STRC C-hubs, knuckles and lockouts. I still have issues with the screws backing out even with blue locktite. Haven't had them strip out though ( knock on wood ). I just check and snug the screws back up after each run. I love my VP axle housings, I also purchased a pair of steel diff cover skids to protect them too.

I know red locktite is a no no. But it's not that often I remove those parts. A heat gun would loosen the red up pretty quick. I can never find the vp stage one kit in stock..

You will be, the quality and craftsmanship is superb. Those are the same skids I have on mine too. well worth the money and protection. Getting them scratched up is gonna be the hardest part, but that's what they are for. What color housing did you get? Mine is silver with silver STRC products.

Ive had mine for a while now, nothing has stripped out. Only issue was screws loosening up on front chubs due to the tiny bit of play, the new scale hubs should fix that, just installed them too and they seem great! I think they would stay with no screws!

I got black axle housing with black diff cover. I already had grey trusses and shock mounts so I ordered grey scale c-hubs and knuckles and a set of mips. It's hilarious because I was going to keep this rig semi-stock. Now it's my favorite and going full out lol. Thanks for the feedback!

I have had mine for quite a while now. There's not a lot of metal (depth) for the screws to bite into and mine have gotten fairly loose. I ended up inserting beef tubes into the front VQ axle and now there's lot's of threads for the bolts and they are steel, not soft aluminum. The scale VQ CHubs would be better because they clamp down in addition to the upper and lower bolts.

I recently rotated the rear VQ lockouts 180 degrees, drilled and tapped new holes because they were not staying tight with the original holes....plus, now the two bolts that were previously on the bottom of the axles will not longer scrape the rocks.

I'm quite anal and perform lots of maintenance on my rigs which means these bolts get removed fairly regularly, which is likely the cause of the holes not staying tight. I use blue Loctite every time.

Would I buy these axles again....absolutely.

I also drilled and tapped my rear for 2 more screws. The lockouts were forever coming loos even with red loctit. My lockouts have 4 screws in them and have not backed off yet

bilinvic, were the lockouts coming loose with the beef tubes installed or was that prior to beef tubes?

So many great ideas and proven methods. This is why I am addicted to these forums. Thank you everyone for sharing your experience, ideas, and methods. The hardest part now is deciding which route to take to secure these hardwares in place. I'm sure having a heavy 10# rig doesn't help either.

Or go with Currie axles and eliminate the rear lockouts all together, especially with a heavy rig. Mines just over 8 lbs with a battery.

Weight wise sounds like your right up there with me , with the exception of the fact that I have 8oz weights per wheel up front and 4oz per wheel out back also mounted on CAC E-Z lock wheels and full droop suspension with G-Transition shocks, 0 up travel but a a lot of down travel. She sticks to the rocks like glue but hill climbs are horrible, I'm guessing the weight is a major factor. All it wants to do is sink into the dirt. LOL.....

Sounds like your machine needs to go on a bit of a diet! I don't use weighted wheels and she climbs awesome.
