| RR Steel hardened gears question
Just bought the 2 gears for my transmission the steel ones. Are these gears harder on my motor and battery. Seemed like they have more resistance. But still drives great but cant hit reverse then forward and pop wheelies anymore. This normal? Thanks |

Normal? Nothing should have changed except for the strength and added weight down low. The plastic gears did not require grease, I sure hope you added some type of grease in with the new metal gears you installed. This is a good upgrade you have done, now it will allow you to run more powerful motors as you upgrade your rig. Just so you know, reversing and then full throttle to pop wheelies is hard on your drive train eg: drive shafts, ring and pinion gears, stock axle shafts, and output shafts that you just added new metal gears to.

If you don't have any grease around the house, just head down to your local hobby shop and get a small tube of grease, or local parts store or Walmart and get any wheel bearing grease. A small tube will suffice, you don't need a tub. Don't pack a ton of grease in the case, just smear a good amount around the gears and make sure they are between the teeth. When they make contact it will push out what's not needed. Make sure you have proper gear mesh upon reinstalling the pinion and spur gear. If its too tight you will burn up the motor, too loose and it will strip the spur gear. Tear a thin strip of paper and place it between the pinion and spur gear, press the motor against the spur gear and tighten down the bolts. Pull or rotate the gears to get the paper out, make sure its not ripped. If it is than it's too tight and repeat the process till you get it right. It should crinkle nicely and not have any tears. Hope this helps.

Let's see if these show up, the first two pictures appear to be the same. If you look at the bottom of your image page you'll see "Show Codes" in small print. Click on that and copy the "Direct Link" from the list that comes up below your image. Then paste that link here between two image tags. You can also copy "Hotlink for Forums" and paste it here without the image tags. |

Fixed, thanks. Working on getting a different water proof enclosure for the electronics in back. |
