Default Cronus

Cronus started life as a spawn and I wanted to have a place to log progress and miles ran. The goal is to have a rig worthy of a Recon G6 event or at least be able to hold its own in a local GTG..
When I bought the RTR I only planned to bash it this winter but after receiving mt wife decided that she wanted me to have a build this winter.. So after some searching I placed Cronus' first order.

Pulling all stock running gear in preps for a power up..

Parts list.
TrailMaster BLE Pro.
Puller Pro "stubby" 3300kv
Stage 1 kit
10 piece links
Castle BEC
SC1256TG servo
Rear sway bar
Universal set
HR gears
Gear head lowering kit
Rubicon body
2.2 Voodoo U4-silver compound.

Thanks for looking..

A few issues with my power up. My savox servo seems to stick out front a few further then normal so it was getting hit by bumper when flexing. I ended up pulling the mounts and shaving an 1/8 off. Helped set it back enough to clear and I think it looks a lot cleaner.. The stock Shocks springs suck.. :( Way to stiff so I need to either upgrade or find softer springs. Now the sway bar on pumpkin side I had to cut out some of the side webbing on the axle to fit the longer bolt and nut. Not a big issue but putting it on was a pain..lol
I'm loving the look of these more in person.

Questions...
1. Looking for a servo mount that sets back a few mm from stock?

2. With the Gear head lowering kit my front shocks have to sit at a pretty good angle as the cross brace need to be cut. If I cut it I will need a link to go between the mounts. any tips?

Thanks for any help guys..

De-wanger and/or RCBros servo posts, they're much slimmer & being alloy take a fine thread screw, stay much tighter

Axial 55mm post fits between the front mounts

& if you've moved the battery forward & taken the tray out, the rear shock mounts.

The Spawn manual says it's got the red springs on it

You have the gearhead lowering mounts in backwards.
Gear Head RC Wraith Droop - Lowering Kit

If you look at the pics on the RPP site the holes for mounting the shocks go towards the front end. That would reduce the angle and you'd no longer have to cut your cage.

Wow thanks for all the info. I've already pulled and plan to have battery forward, still looking at trey options but those links are perfect.
I do have red springs and need to try lightest and go from there.
Thanks again, your rig looks great.

Haha.. that's funny, I thought for sure I had it right since they sit perfect against the cross brace.. I'll make sure to swap them around in the morning..

To be honest I think they can go either way, I've certainly seen pics of them mounted both ways, depends entirely on how much you want to lay the shock down.

I went ahead and turned them and am happy with the angle of shock but not as happy for the look. Oh well, performance first..
As for the body I'm going to keep it a little high not to cut out the front mounts. If I did I would have to cut even more of the grill and I'm not liking that. As not sure why the bottom of the doors are even with the chassis but I will be trimming that so I don't have extra just hanging to catch on stuff.

Anyone have any rear bumper ideas? I'm wanting something small and simple. Basically just for hooking to tow and protection.

A little more work done today. Built a front plate for batt and esc. Turned out better then I thought but it will be replace later on as I have plans for a servo winch. Nice enough to fit my big 2s 5200 so 3s is going to give a little on both sides.

All tucked under the hood.

But I am having a twitching issue. While powered and sitting the steering will twitch every blue moon or the throttle pops.. if anyone has an idea please let me know.
Thanks

Being it was Christmas yesterday I didn't have time to do much but was able to check my connections and plan with ESC/BEC setting to see if this will help my twitch. Maybe it's just a goof with everything being new and all is worked out but I plan today to take outside and do a test. Could a twitch be caused by a bad solder? Maybe my solder job for my deans isn't a good enough connection but I would think that would cause other issues not a twitch.. :/

I have a rear bumper on my spawn that should fit in with your rig.

It's an axial rear bumper from one of the jeep kits. Used some longer bolts to attach it to the rear of the cage.

Thanks for the info on the bumper, I'll look into one.
This morning I got on trying to figure out my twitching issue. After recalabating all is good and I even tested outside.. just did a few slow passes on side walk cause of all the snow.. I'm happy so far but lots more to do..

My 3s lipos showed up a earlier this week and I finally had time to soldier on dean's plugs and see about fitment. Nice an snug in my DIY front battery mount.

Got my U4 tires mounted but I'm not sure if I'm happy with my foams. Seem stiffer then I thought they would be. I'm sure for speed they'll be great but slower sections I'm not sure how it will go. I do think they need to be broke in before I make a decision on them.
I'm happy with the look of this build so far and can't wait for my next order..

Cronus has slowed since my injury and some plans have been changed because of it but I'm pushing to do what I can with what I have.
I'm down for at least a few months but want to get this truck running and set up so I can run when I get a chance..
Plate and 9 screws later.

Painted body, not perfect but not being very mobile I like how it turned out.

Also started a roof but I'm not sure if I like the idea. If I do run with it I plan to roll the front lip and smooth out the edges. Thoughts?

Next step is now to jump into the rear axle and UD with a spool. Look into what the weak points are with stock beadlocks now that I need to stay with them. Maybe alum hubs will improve but any other ideas?

Looks like I need to work on my wheel issue ASAP.
I know they wouldn't last but can't even handle some in house test runs.
Being laid up on WC I need to keep this cheap so what is my best route? Of course I need alum hubs all around so that's covered.

Gmade GT 2.2 ?

SLW 475 on stock wraith BL?

Or?

What u guys think? Any other options or suggestions for a cheap temporary fix till I get back on my feet?

You can try these for a cheap fix, everything is better than those plastic adapters.

if you wish to spend less
but want more strength.

The Axial hex mount hub conversion
is way stronger then the original pin mount hubs.
and has both short and long hubs included.

Alloy set screw 12mm hexes are also included
and really help with strength/durability concerns.
