Default Rock Lights

Hey all, just curious what people are doing for rock lights on their wraith. I'm a bit of a DIYer but also love a clean/scale/factory look..

Lets see what you've creative folks have come up with!

These are a couple of examples I have used. The Wraith has individual amber LEDS in each corner while the SCX10 has white strip lights mounted to the inside of the body facing down. Both work great. Have about $3 in each setup.

How are you wiring the lights ? Are they prewired or are you putting the strings together yourself ? At only 3 bucks please show us how you did it. Are the LEDs available in different colors ? Where did you get them ? Sorry maybe too many questions but I would like to light up my rigs on the cheap. Have done a few with Axial lights but they are not that cheap.

The lights for both rigs came from my LHS and I wired them straight off the battery lead going to the esc. I use a toggle switch on the truck to turn the lights on and off. The white lights on the SCX10 are strip lights that come on a roll and are waterproof with an adhesive back. You just cut them to length and solder on the wires. The wires for all lights on both trucks are ran back to a box on the frame that also houses the switch. The Wraith has ordinary LEDS. I found some one hole wire clamps that are the correct size to clamp onto the LED and attached them to existing screw locations on the bottom of the cage. I will try to get some close up pics of both setups tonight. And yes, both styles of lights can be found in several different colors

I also used the cheap strip lights and a remote from Amazon, just search for LED strip lights. I stuck a 3-LED strip to the interior under each seat and to the underside of the hood, roughly above each wheel. Soldered on the leads and run them direct to 3s battery. There are dozens of choices - varying colors, remote dimmable, waterproof, etc. Check the voltage before you buy, most are 12v and can be run direct from 3s. Just stay away from the junk strip connectors they sell and solder them.

I'll try to remember to post some pics when I get home tonight.

Here is what I did. They are the leds for above cabinets. Silicone over the leds themselves then plasti-dipped to the bracket I made with tin snips and bent over the edge of my workbench. Wired through a switch from my 3s lipo at first. Now running heyok dual voltage light controller.

Here's my setup. All strip lights are wired in series with connections soldered and covered in hot glue.

Here are a couple pics of how I mounted my rock lights. The foil tape on the SCX10 body is dual purpose. It helps reflect the light and keeps the body from glowing.
