Default Broke my new Wraith

Stripped the rear axle ring gear on my Wraith last weekend popping wheelies. Inspecting the set up after it happened I noticed both the front and rear pinion gear have forward/rear play.
I got the new HD gears on Friday and plan to install today. Need to check for the same sloppiness with the HD gears and shim if needed. On my Wraith it looks like the shim will need to go on the pinion shaft outside the housing, between the bearing and driveshaft connection.
I was able to find a few post pertaining to this scenario on the our forum, is this a common problem.

Got her fixed this morning. I went ahead and replaced the transmission gears with HR steel gears and took the locker out of the front diff. It seems smoother with the HD diff gears. The Pug looks angry because he is a Browns fan.

I use the stock ring gear diff gasket even with the HD gears. I've found it helps with the mesh and needs less shimming.

After some time the inner bearings almost invariably fail and even the HD gears will slip. Get the AR60 modified housings from Dlux. He bores them out and adds a larger inner bearing so no shimming is required. They're only a few bucks more than the stock housings and I've never had one fail.
