I went ahead and ordered two sets of shocks from fleaBay China. They're for the k949 Twin Hammers clone. The spring rates should close to what I want and the lengths are nearly spot on. If they work and just leak I'll get the real deal. https://www.ebay.com/itm/232123155725 |

Acrylic is not the right clear plastic... very brittle. you need use lexan or polycarbonite. .040 would be the most durable thickness. .028 or .035 would be easier to vacuum mold. |

I was pricing some this morning on fleaBay. The stock that Lowes has is too thick.

I found two sets of new pull off Yeti front shocks on fleaBay for $9 a set. I ordered enough stuff from that vendor to drop shipping on all but one item so I got the two sets for for about $22 shipped. These measure 93mm eye to eye and I like that height. I put some longer Wraith springs on and it's a nice setup for me. Purple/1.43# under the battery and Black/1.04# up front. Last edited by Brake Weight; 02-23-2017 at 07:07 AM. |

Picked up an interior set the other day. Now I need to paint it up, mount the seats I've been hanging on to for a year, and add the small details. I'll be swapping to a longer can, adding a front electronics tray, and moving the battery up front, too.

Decided I wanted a different motor and ordered one up. Finished the interior in the meantime as well as swapped over some Duratrax Deepwoods from my Yeti(never used). I had some dual stage foams in them on the Yeti. I didn't like how they looked so I went with the CI tall single stage and they fill out nicely. I'll get a test motor in tomorrow and see how they do. Dual vs Single I picked up some 3/16" steel rod to make some links for the steering, too. Last edited by Brake Weight; 10-10-2017 at 07:00 PM. |

Oh yeah. My cheap assed motor showed up today the day before I leave town for a little bit. So I put it in and the interior. It's a rat's nest of wires so disregard that. I'll be resoldering the motor wires, too. All 32p gears with 12t pinion and a 64t spur. So it can't be geared much lower. Here's the $20 motor. It may very well end up in my Exo Terra. I had to shave, er...butcher, the right rear link mount down with a wood chisel or space the tranny up. But if I spaced it higher then the interior wouldn't have fit. I did this on #2 to fit a Traxxas 550. I took a little much trying to fit a 3670 last week. Brody seems to not fit as well as I had hoped. I'll need to hot air gun his arse to make him sit right. Steering wheel needs adjusting, too. With the Spawn top. I have spare Heep panels but I like the SUV body just fine. Suitable for basing and this motor will still pop wheelies geared down. |
