| Not off to a great start
I got my Wrath kit last Friday and got it put together over the weekend. Either I was shorted one on the O-rings for the shocks, or I dropped it and can not find it. I got down on my hands and knees and searched the floor. It's not there. I ran over to my LHS and find out that they don't stock them. Oh well, I can order them. I press on and get it assembled (minus 1 shock) and discover that the axles are turning in opposite directions. One again, it's no big deal. I flip one of the ring gears and we are back in business. Although the stance was wonky with 3 shocks I couldn't resist seeing it move on its own power. That POS plastic steering linkage didn't last 30 seconds before it broke. I knew it would have to be replace it eventually, but I thought I might be able to run a pack or 2 before I start having to upgrade. So now it's back on the bench waiting on my O-rings and aluminum steering. At least I enjoyed building it. Maybe next weekend I can get some drive time.

Welcome to the world of Axial. There are tons of aftermarket accessories because you'll need them. Their plastics suck and they use too much of it. SSD makes a nice and inexpensive titanium steering link. http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/ssd00117.htm |

I'm still running my plastic linkage on one. They do have aluminum servo horns though.

Don't be too pedantic about specifically getting the Axial orings, any RC brand of 3.5x2mm silicone oring that your lhs have will be just fine. Unfortunate on the tie rod, they're average at best but it's unusual to fail that soon. |

| Re: Not off to a great start We couldn't figure out any other parts that would work. If you know of another kit that uses that size o-ring I would love to know what it is.

| Re: Not off to a great start Get a set of digital calipers and measure them. Then look them up on your favorite supply house. I personally prefer McMaster-Carr. You can do the same thing with hardware. It will save you money.

& ARRMA #AR330245 is so close I can't see it not working. According to Google Traxxas GTR shocks have a 3.5mm shaft also so the kit #5462 has X-ring seals that should work. Losi 22 has 3.5mm shafts also. Last edited by altd896; 02-06-2017 at 11:48 PM. | |

Suggestion ... order traxxas "X" rings instead of conventional "O" rings. This ( with some green slime ) will prevent leaking

Traxxas big bores are a one time buy. They never leak.

| Re: Not off to a great start I think that's where I'll end up. In the meantime, I have some O-Rings on the way. I'm just getting back into the hobby after several years away. I'm taking the upgrades slowly until my wife gets used to the extra spending. |

I run front Yeti shocks on both front and rear of my Wraith. They're 93mm eye to eye and the 14x70 Axial springs are a nice fit. I haven't seen this side by side to the Big Bores, but they close and cheaper.

I just did a kit build and i was missing one of the all thread screws for the lower links. I ended up dremeling a head down on a long 3mm screw. The plastic steering link binds bad if tightened too much which may have caused the breakage. I noticed that backing the bolts out a bit let it move free with no binding. Still plan to upgrade anyway but for now it'll hopefully work. |

I've made links before and will make some for Wraith #2. Stainless 3/16" rod, or 1/4" if that's all you can find, an m4 die (or m5 for 1/4") to cut threads and a cordless drill. Measure thrice and cut once, chuck the rod into the drill, and cut the threads on it. Then screw on Traxxas ball ends.
