Default Brothers Wraith

Simple RTR Wraith build up. My brother got a like new RTR Wraith from a friend a while back. He really wanted a scale truck but for the price he couldnt pass it up. Decided to fix it up a little for him with hopes he will like it enough to hang on to it.

First i had to do a very clean fastback mod. Cut, drilled, and tapped the cage so i could thread some stainless steel sleeved threaded rod into it. This is a little more work but i love how smooth the transition is on the rear of the cab.

Then i made a set of nice stainless steel sleeved treaded rod links with Traxxas Revo ends.

Next he wanted the servo up into the chassis. This also means a three link w/panhard bar swap up front. Fabbed up a plate for the servo then made some aluminum mounts on the chassis and axle for the panhard bar. Need to pick up some more allthread to make the bar and a new drag link.

Next i will be redoing the front of the chassis for a custom front end to accommodate a Chevy body.

Yea its about new. The guy broke a knuckle like the first time he used it then he never fixed it. I started to move the battery but he opted to leave it in the factory location just cause its easy and he runs light weight 2s anyway. Got to order a body so i can fit it up. I also shortened the wheelbase up about 1/2" in the front. Depending on thebody i may take another 1/4-1/2" off. I hate how far the front axle hangs out yhrre in stock configuration.

I moved my entire skid/suspension/axles back about 1/2" when I did my tummy tuck. I agree the front end is way out there. Better to have the length out back for better weight bias. I have a brand new spawn body complete with decals and all if that's what you're looking for, PM me.

Generally i do not care for the wraith all that much. Its awesome and all but being what it is they all pretty much look the same. I needed a body for this thing but i really dont care for a lot of the body options available. Im a big chevy guy but all the bowtie bodies that can be ran on the wraith are too small to look right on ar60s and 2.2s. Long story short i was sitting here looking at my extra vaterra blazer body and thought hell its freaking huge so maybe i can make it work. I could not be happier. Cut, hacked, and narrowed i think the blazer shell looks perfect.

You are great at fab work.

The panhard link mounts are perfect, the fastback cage mod is super clean.

Thanks guys. Making everything with portaband, and hand tools. Got the body secured finally. The blazer body worked out way better than i imagined it would. Just got to finish the steering link and panhard bar, make a windsheild and call it done.

Man, that Blazer body looks awesome on there. That's about what I envisioned for my Wraith, maybe once I'm happy with the mechanics of the car I'll try something similar.

Thanks. Other than the fastback mod and the bumper delete the chassis is still stock. I like the performance of the wraith all in all. Might be hard to give it back to the bro.

How easy is it to swap the battery? It may have been posted...

That looks awesome though with that body!!! It's a nice step away from the stock lexan or even aluminum panels. :-)

Easy as moving the esc out the way and trimming fust a little of the interior trans tunnel. I dont even have to remove the hood.
