Default Rock Bouncer Thoughts

I have a Wraith "Spawn" kit laying around. I'm going to install a front and rear steer and a two speed transmission. I'm still trying to figure out which motor I want to run. I want the low end to have an insane amount of torque, but want the high end to have enough speed to bash around and take some jumps. Thoughts?

A Holmes Hobbies or Tekin sensored brushless crawler motor on 3s or 4s with the right gearing should get you the best of both worlds without the extra weight, cost, and bulk of a 2 speed transmission. There are a fair amount of threads about people running those combos.

Build a beefy transmission (Hot Racing hardened steel gears) and add some upgraded CVDs, powered by a 3500kv or even the new 4100kv Holmes Hobbies Puller Pro brushlees, and underdrive both diffs... fairly indestructible.

That new 4100kv might be right up your alley -

Holmes Hobbies Puller Pro 3500kv or Tekin ROC412 3100kv. EDIT: Seeing durok's post the 4100kv will give you even more speed. I wasn't aware that this option was available. It must be fairly new.

Your project is the perfect fit for the Castle Mamba X ESC with the crawler/rock racer mode.

Ditto above statements! HH Puller PRO 3500kv or above should provide for some insane power and wheel speed. Run it 4s and it will be monstrous!

I definitely agree about holding off on the two speed tranny for a bouncer. It's just not necessary if you build everything else up right.

Please post pics when you start. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
