I have never run HR bevels, but I have had good experiences in Boom Racing HD bevel gear set on my Wraith( consider very reliable if you shim properly) In my humble opinion Boom racing and HR both were made in China. Either one will serve you well. Last edited by Teng; 01-10-2018 at 05:59 AM. |

The SuperShafty BombProof transmission build uses Hot Racing gears... I'm building my Bomber trans with them as well. My diffs are under-drive Axial HD, but that's just because at the time I bought them I don't know if HR even had them available...

When it comes to gears I typically go OEM.

A lot of people used to run the HR gears years ago because they were cheaper than the Axial versions. I don't recall people having issues with them. Now, the Axial versions are basically the same price as the HR gears so everyone just goes with Axial. If the HR gears are still significantly cheaper in your area, then go with those. |

I learned the hard way with after market gears. I tried out RC4WD "hardened" set front and rear. They stripped the pinion and ring in the rear halfway through a run, and the front was well on its way when I inspected. The material they were made from was liked dried cheese! Went back to Axial units and have had zero issues since. Now, I will say all three of my HR trans are phenomenal and have had zero issues. So, it might be worth giving the HR units a shot.

If you do go HR let us know how they do. I'm curious on them as well.
