Holmes Hobbies spool, or no spool. Want the least amount of slop? Go HH.

The FI spools from Locked RC also work great with little slop.

Remember to not use the gasket on the new lockers you get, just a headsup |

I just got a pair of the 300m spools from BMRC and they are very nice. Grip fab, locked up RC, Holmes, Any of these are great choices. I'd see if Blue Monkey is still running his 2 for 1 deal. Great way to save $20.

| Re: Locker I have these, just an FYI. I got bound up where I could not see yesterday. Tried to gass out, mistake. Snapped an Axial Universal about an inch front he locker. Locker is 100% perfect, no issues.

| Re: Locker Ugh, I bought an HR spool in a brick and mortar shop in a pinch to make it through a session with my brother after blowing up my stocker, and the HR has more slop in it than the stock sintered locker. I wouldn't reccomend an HR. Yes it still works but there are much better options out there for similar money. I keep hearing lots of good things about the grip fabs. Think I'll go that route when I blow up my HR. The Vanquish Locker is a really neat piece of kit with the whole "floating" design using o-rings and all but I'm not a fan of the set screws to elimnate slop, I think a true spool style with tight cnc tolerance is the better way.

The whole point of buying after-market lockers is to get rid of the slop on top of the added strength, therefore the addition of Loctite on an after-market replacement as Axial requires with their sintered version kinda voids the whole purpose. Go with a better quality like Locked Up RC, Vanquish, Incision and Holmes. |

I ended up getting the blue monkey spools and they looked like they would be great. After a few runs the front spool is shot! It looks to me like the long axle shaft does not slide into the spool far enough. It only went in about 1/16 of an inch. So now my axle shaft is slightly rounded and the spool is stripped out. What spool with solve this problem? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I would recommend Locked Up Rc's FI spools. "FI" meaning -f#&$n indestructible. They are a very tight fit and for about $20 apiece- IMO cant go wrong there. I've also used Vanquish spools w floating design- pleased, expensive but pleased. Incision- price good, performance and slop -piss poor. Havent got my paws on a set of Holmes spools yet, but would definitely try Locked Up FI. Good luck.

This is the second time in less than a week that I've heard of the BMRC 300m spool failing because of poor design and insufficient axle shaft engagement. I'm going to send Matt an email and see what he thinks. I'm really hoping I can find a use for the two brand new ones I have. Please don't say paperweight.

Thanks for the insight rock farmer. Screamer, the blue monkey spool is working fine in the rear of the truck but not the front. The axle shafts engaged more in the rear than the front. Just don't use them in the front. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Oh that's good to know. Thanks Maxx. I don't mind at all using them only in the rearend as long as I can use them. I sent that email to Matt at Blue Monkey so hopefully he looks into it and chimes in.

There seems to be an issue with a few lockers out there not having enough engagement in front applications. I've had issues with vp's floating style, felsenfest and another clamping of unknown brand. All of them worked fine in the rear. The front shafts just don't go in deep enough. The issue with the bmrc spools just accentuates the issue. |

Wow, I wasn't aware of that. I know VPs VVDs have longer tangs and engage more of the locker in front and I run 3-4 sets of those so maybe why I haven't had any issues with any of my spools. WT, I'm sure you've said before, what's your front locker of choice or front and rear for that matter? Holmes?
