| New out drives needed?
Hey y’all. Rebuilding my wraith spawn transmission. When pulling out the bottom gear with the out drive shafts, I noticed all 3 small screws had backed out and the pressure of the case held the outdrives in enough to just barely snag the shorter out drive and spin the driveshafts. The screws seem to be ok, but they actually “wallowed out” the holes in the plastic gear, which I’m replacing. Should I invest in a new set of outdrives? I looked and the ones I find for a wraith don’t look to have the longer outdrive, but two shorties. I’m using the axial steel gear set and hr aluminum transmission case. Thank ya

I'd put some fresh hardware in there and run it.

Those small screws should be 2 or 2.5mm, not too hard to find if yours are too chewed up to catch threads.

The screws coming loose on the Axial 3 piece outdrive assembly is fairly common. A little loctite on the screws when you're putting it all back together should fix the problem. The screws should be M2 x 6mm long. Being as small as they are, a good quality hex driver and good quality screws helps a lot when you're tightening these. Cheap stuff tends to round the hex driver and strip the hex in the screw. |

Red if you never want to remove them. I use harbor freight red on everything. It isn't gummy like blue loctite brand or crazy hard to remove like loctite red but it holds great |

Whether its blue or red depends on the brand so just check the description on the bottle. Usually Red is permanent but I have a bottle of blue thats permanent too so dont just look at the color.

I've switched to the Chapstick-style Loctite blue for R/C stuff - so much more convenient to dispense and apply, no more dripping into areas that I didn't want it to go!
