| New 1.9, wheel clicking?
I just got my pretty new 1.9 from tower today and while I was running it, I noticed a clicking. It went away when I lifted the truck and ran it, but if I flipped it over it would come back. Seems to be coming from the front left wheel. Any idea what the hell that could be and how I can fix it? Thanks! |

Get some Traxxas 5x8mm PTFE coated washers (shims, part number: TRA1985). Put one between the drive shaft and the outer pinion bearing on both the front and rear axle. The 0.5mm of slop they allow and the spiral cut hypoid design of the gears (high pinion) cause the pinion to walk inward under torque causing a tight mesh and the pinion gear to hit the ring gear/spool. Shimming the pinions tight should eliminate your clicking. Because of the spiral cut teeth on the pinion, think of the pinion gear like a screw. Slop plus torque one direction will try to "screw" the pinion into the ring gear. Reversing that torque does the opposite. Sent from my SM-S111DL using Tapatalk |
