Thumbs down Congratulations axial!!

CONGRATULATIONS AXIAL!!
You managed to step into the market with the XR10. It has a standard transmission WITHOUT WORMS in it, that blows up after 6 minutes of driving.

Here are the Pics:
http://www.scalecrawler.de/index.php...&threadID=5166

Sorry my english is not the best but I think you guys on rcc will get the point anyway.

The XR10 is on the market in germany since thursday, yesterday(saturday) wie had the first comp.
Half the XR10s broke down with missing tooth in the spool gear.

So lets see why did that happen? (I am a mechanical engineer)
Axial used 48dp gears all over the transmission. 48dp is the same size the motor-pinion is. Unfortunatly the shearing force on the tooth of the spool-gear is 10 times higher than the force on the pinion...
10 times, Axial made the spool gear 1.5 times wider than the rest of the Gears.

But thats not enough the second XR10 that broke down yesterday did not only have gears with tooth missing. It also had his trani-ball-bearings killed.
Why did that happen?? Axial used the smalest bearings I know of, inner diameter 5mm outer diameter 8mm. The balls of this bearings are about 0.5mm in the diameter. The bearings on the axle next to the spool-gear broke down first, again there it the highest load.

I really have been looking forward to the new XR10 and allready ordered one.

5x8 in the axle is too small IMO

I used to put 5x8 bushings in my juggernaut as the 5x8 bearings would always blow up

Most unfortunate

That's pretty sad, I guess somebody is going to be making a killer selling aftermarket parts. That's pretty dissapointing coming from a company like Axial!

I don't have one in front of me to look. I know of several applications where shimming helps get a better contact patch on gears. Would this be an option here? Just a thought.

As will just about EVERY first run of a new product, there are going to be "teething" issues that need to be addressed.

Sorry to see that your brand new XR10 is having issues, but give it a bit of time, I'm sure Axial will correct the issue.

From reading Holy's XR10 thread, some gears are directional... perhaps it was on backwards?

I am also very dissapointed with axial, the complete lack of comuication about when there product will hit the shelfs and telling us the US will get em first than germany has them, and no one knows when they will be here. I would rather hear a actual date even if it was later than they thought. feels like we are all chasing our tail

So you have people waiting 6+ months for a not so perfect kit?
Come on, give axial some time, it is a new kit after all. What did you expect, no issues whatsoever?
You should have bought an M3 SMG only to have the engine/transmission blow up after 5K kilometers.

Or maybe Axial has been bought from Horizon???

even if it were directional gears wouldn't they blow up if one is driving in reverse? how can a gear be directional after all? you couldn't avoid turning it in a wrong direction while driving normaly. or am I wrong?

until now mine hasn't blow up, so I'll keep my fingers crossed that only some gears are bad and not the whole production.

I think the directional gears were ment to make sure you installed the the correct way for the correct channel depth that is cut into the gear for the pin. I would say it has nothing to do with the teeth I believe.

im sure if you contacted axial about the problem instead of bitch on here you would already have replacement parts on their way and the whole staff looking into the problem.

now you have to wait for them to read your post to rectify the situation.

thats as long as their history stays somewhat consistant.

I'don't know, but nothing special, both where stock and had normal weight in the front wheels. In both rigs the rear axle broke down.
