Default Chaotic Crawlers "One-off Nino" XR10

This chassis was designed around the El Nino 2 chassis with a shorter squat stance. It give plenty of belly clearance and still maintains a low cog. Currently this is the only one of its kind...

I got an XR10...Basically built to bag D then put the rest back in the box...

Parts list:
XR10 axles
Losi 4" shocks in rear and 3" in front
Chaotic Crawlers One-Off chassis
Tekin FXR
Punk Dig
45t Fantom Hand-wounds
Mayhem UCW
Rover whites
Hitec 7950
Castle BEC

Here is a few pictures for tonight...

Looks good booster!

I had a feeling that chassis would work with these axles.

I can't wait to see it on the rocks!

Looks cool man. And Kudos for not building another gay stock XR10. When I get mine, I am also only using the axles. And perhaps the shocks. Otherwise, the rest will go back in the box

Stock they are great. I built mine completely stock just to fell the capabilities
of out of the box, it's amazing. But I'm also currently making a new electronics
plate and making some needed changes The stock chassis is $ though, so much
tunability, it's like a mini lcc chassis.

The losi shocks look like they fit nice on that chassis.

First thing I asked my self when these came out was what wheel offset are they...so first thing i did was build the axles and compare....

This shows the axial front axle is about 1/4" longer than the berg axle. And the rear is about 3/8" shorter than the berg. So I knew just then the berg offset UCW's would work perfect.

Then when building the links I tried to use Revo rod ends on the front lower links...the link cups are just not deep enough which forces you to use the softer plastic axial rod ends...so i drilled and tapped them with 4mm studs to give a little more strength.

That's what I did!! Used the juice chassis, T1E rear lower links, 30* stainless fronts, and custom made aluminum uppers... Must say that with losi gold springs and this setup, I am VERY happy. It is very stable and does things the bully couldn't. You won't regret it chris

I got the rig up and running for the weekly Wednesday crawl. Everything in the build went smooth.

Im not a huge fan of the flexible plastic uppers but ill make do with for now until i make some aluminum ones.

After tonight's crawl session i will say this rig can flat out crawl. There is not a line i tried tonight i couldn't get. It was pretty awesome. It reacted a lot like my berg but with a bit more axle clearance. The narrow rear was a bit different and took some getting used to on a few crevice lines. The only MAJOR problem with the XR is.............the strenght.....I can drop my berg over and over and maybe after a 10 foot fall i break a rear stub...but this pretty little thing took a little topple and snappy...the knuckle is now it two...HOPEFULLY Axial or Vanquish will release the aluminum verson soon so i can prevent this in the future...

Oh...Forgot to mention...The steering needs needs work...A LOT!!!

More than once...like 10-15 times the steering would lock in one direction then when I tried to return it one wheel would turn a little bit...

There is just too much flex and play in every component of the steering...I will be changing the lower multi-piece steering tierod to a more solid piece and upgrading the steering arm as well..

I also think aluminum knuckles would help a ton in not allowing play in the steering setup...

Rig looked dialed tonight, until the snap sound happened!

Hopefully axial or somebody will get
You some replacements in time for the comp next weekend!

I love the look of this chassis. A one piece tierod won't work in the original slidey slot. It'll need to be able to move forwards and backwards a bit. It doesn't look like there's a lot of space for it, but looking forward to seeing how you do it.

Do you see any way you can flip the servo backwards to achieve BTA steering?

Are the AX10 C Hubs and Rear Hubs compatible with the XR10?

Other servo mounting post is solid in axle upper housing and there seems to be no room for BTA.

AX10 axle parts are not compatible to XR10.

I think a "one piece" tierod is achievable,
It will just require some ingenuity to do it.

I hope Hot Racing or CKRC or another Aftermarket vendor figures out how to do BTA on this. I'm worried that clocking the axle will put the servo arm too close to the rocks. I'll try to fashion something out of aluminum once my XR10 is delivered.
