Default XR10 Front Axle in the back VS Rear Axle

Hello ppls,

I would like to ask opinion about using XR10 front axle in the back (rear), can anyone give me opinion about its advantage vs using rear axle ? ( beside less gear strip of course ).

I noticed ppl like hittman and John hall use front axle in rear instead of rear axle.

Any comment/opinion will be appreciated.

thanks in advance.

You gain a bunch of clearance, rear shock geometry changes, And you wb will shorten up because of the way the lower links mount to the axle.

Thanks curcal, so to use front axle in rear sounds like I will need a new set rear link upper and lower or the old one will do just fine with a bit of tuning ?

Thanks in advance.

Your rears upper links will be a little to long and the lowers will be too short by about 1/8 to 1/4 in. That can be fixed with longer rod ends usually

You really don't need it. So many people who run the adjustable holes run their links at or below the stock mounting location. It's really a minor thing compared to the rest of the rig.

If I am not mistaken to run the front axle in the rear you need to get a different set of drive shafts for it as well.

I believe the original idea to use the front in rear was to save gears as the rear axle has a habit of popping final drive gears.

You can do the 2 screw mod to help save the gears inthe rear axle.

XR10 2 Screw Mod
