| Easy 9mm Mod.
Ok so here it is... I used a 11/32 drill bit(about 8.6mm) to drill out the holes where the bearings sit then used my dremel to get a perfect fit. then anether dremel tool(pic below) to round the edges so the bearings would fit in just right. The bearings i used came from avid racing(link below). About 30 battery packs now and this thing is holding up great. At the bottom of all the pics are some of the stock bearings after less than 10 packs. Took me about an hour including disassembley and reassembly. Hope this helps anyone thinking of doing this mod, only costs about 14 buck for the bearings. Flanged 5x9x3 http://www.avidrc.com/product/1/bear...-bearings.html Regular 5x8x2.5(used in plastic) http://www.avidrc.com/product/1/bear...-bearings.html Stock bearings when I opened the case to do the 9mm Mod. Hope this helps... Comment and ask any questions you might have... Last edited by losichris; 10-07-2010 at 06:12 PM. |

Did you choose Avid for the price? Since they are out, has anyone found another supplier yet? Bocas are like 5.95 per |

I read all about the bearings before I ordered them and the reviews are great. Mine have no problems, Robbs have no problems... Use the metal ones if the rubber ones are out http://www.avidrc.com/product/1/bear...-bearings.html | |

I made same 9mm mod. Old used but good 9mm drill made perfect tight fit hole on the motor plate. I tested different drill bits to 3mm al sheet and noticed, that brand new good 9mm drill made little too big hole. And note for everyone running metal shielded flared bearings, 2 of them are directly open for all dust and s**t you are runnig on. Small piece of tape will cover and save them. |

Does the fact that the 5x9x3 bearings are 0.5mm wider than the stock make any difference?

i ordered the full set of 9mm flange bearings to do this mod, i also ordered the remaining normal 9mm bearings along with a couple extra trannies to machine for the rest of the 9mm bearings, this should last until VP has its out with 10mm throughout. so i be doing the Complete 9mm mod i guess. |

no ill be putting 5x9x3 bearings throughout the entire trannies, not just in the motor plate.
