Default Outrunners?

Anyone think of running outrunners on these rigs? Just an idea I had.

Problem with outrunners is slow speed cogging. Once there is an option for sensored outrunners from Holmes Hobbies then it will be a decent option.

So the ones that they cog? That sucks, oh well just wanted to she. Wife wants an XR10 and I thought that she could have my brushed motors and I would take a set of outrunners and get another cc sidewinder.

why would you want to put out-runners on the xr10? by out-runners, you are talking about the electric motors used for planes right? what would be the advantage to using an out-runner compared to the "normal" motors? i know properly designed out-runners will produce more torque, but is the extra torque really needed with the xr10?

i'm not trying to shoot you down or anything. i just want to understand the need for an out-runner on a rc car/truck.

I have no experience with outrunners, but doesn't the can part of the motor spin? Why would you want that on a MOA?

Yes, more torque is and wheel speed are always what we are trying to find. We want the most we can get in the smallest most efficient package. Outrunners do that job well, they just don't have the low speed feel we need, yet.

Yes, outrunner cans rotate. Yes, they are used on rc planes. I thought they would be cool on my xr10 thats all. Maybe it would be like 6wd. Instead of getting hung up on a rock with my motor I can just drive over it. Hens the rotation of the outrunner.

I drove one of Holmes prototype motors while I was down at Nationals. It was butter smooth but he had it wound too slow. I am looking forward to the newest prototypes.

Back in the day, Clod Supers were trying outrunners. Two controllers, stick radio.

Two screeching noises stuttering on start up.

I like the sound of the outrunners. It was the best when I had my AX10.

as stated above, the spinning can will help them get over rocks that would otherwise hang up the truck.

or they could find some on road tire in the right size to stretch over the out-runner can, and really have 6wd! plus the tire would cushion any impact with rocks.

for a scaler, how hard is it to waterproof an out-runner? is it the same as other brushless motors? i haven't seen a brushed out-runner, but have not looked for one either.

One of the Japanese drivers had outrunners on his MOA at nats. We thought it would be cool to add a layer of rubber to them to have it act like another wheel. Of course I don't know if they would be spinning the way that would be to your advantage. Someone else mentioned the rig would be illegal now because this would give it 6 wheels.

Rules state that 4 wheels can be your only source of propulsion (i.e. No rocket boosters or helicopters)

It will be (a different story), simply because of the additional electronics.
