quick question i just put in vp bushings and now i cant turn the axle by hand. i put in my motor and it will spin the axle but its super loud. some people have told me that there is a break in period for them before they work really well. but i dont really want to run my truck with it this loud kinda scares me. if anyone has had the same problem please let me know how to fix this dont want to have to buy gears again. thanks in advance for the help. I put mine in with a light coat of grease...no problems, so I don't think soaking is necessary. Are you sure you didn't get one of them crooked or bound up?

The pinion makes gears are loud in my axles, maybe you can play with the mesh.

Im having the same problem with mine. I even had to ream out the bushings so they would spin on the shafts freely. I also noticed that not all of the bushings had the same I.D. Not somthing I was expecting with a $50 set of bushings Not only is it loud it is also causing me to have a strong drag brake effect in the front axle that is making it impossible to drive correctly. Im hoping they break in soon |

Buddy of mine said they were loud when he put them in his. He said he had to file on them just a little tomake the fit just right. |

Same problem here. I used a round file and opened the holes in the bushing a little and it is much better. I also ran it up and down my driveway for a couple packs and they broke in nicely. They will always be louder than bearings but, they will hold up well.

They are going to be loud, VP stated they breakin over a little bit of time. Run two packs through it then take them apart and see how they look. |

Install them, and let the XR do the breaking in for you. They will be a little loud at first. |

taken from Vanquishproducts.com..... "may require some slight deburring of the motor plate for good snug fit. the stock motor plate is a laser cut plate and has a tapered bore finish due to laser machining "blowout". the small side of the bore varies. slight deburr with an exacto knife or 8mm reamer will provide precision fit in the motor plate. the non flanged bushings in the cover plate require no effort for nice fit. ** Look for VP stock motor plate in the near future for a precision cnc bored bearing fit. ** bronze bearing will require a short break in period and should be greased with a high quality bearing lubricant periodically" You must make sure the bushings are seated properly. They'll get better as you run them. Just go drive! |

Make sure you clean your gears before you put your axle back together with the bushings if you had a bearing that failed. I put mine together with the bushings and my front axle was making a horrible noise. So I tore it back down and found a single ball from the bearing that failed buried in the grease. Cleaned my gears, re-greased and re-assembled and everything is good. Going to run a couple more packs through it before I tear them back down and make sure all is good.

I put the shaft in a drill with cuttin oil on it and let it rip on them for a few. Better that the 1st set. But still tight.

Back in the brushed stock motor days we would thin down mother chrome polish with bearing oil and run the motor for awhile to break them in. It can be done with a drill on these bushings.

Mine were tight at first also, a few packs freed them up.
