Hello crawlers!

This is my first crawler / RC car ever so I'm really looking forward to this. (I'm not new to RC, I've been flying nitro and electric heli's for 3+ yrs.) My friend Zardoz has been crawling for a few yrs and has been trying to talk me into it. Well when he bought an XR10 I couldn't hold out any longer. I had to have one so I took the plung and with his help I've put together a low budget XR10 to get my feet wet!

Parts list:

1 ea. AX90017 Axial XR10 – 4WD Rock Crawler Competition Kit *IN STOCK $244.99
1 ea. Castle Creations 10amp Bec Unit $21.99
2 ea. Integy Matrix Pro Lathe Motor 55T Single $39.98
1 ea. MMB-Sidewinder Esc with Drag Brake $69.99
1 ea. Hitec HS-7950TH Mega Torque Ti Gear Digital Dual BB $124.99
2 ea. 67772 - Hot Bodies Rover Crawler Tire (Soft) $23.98
3 ea. GForce 30C 1300mAh 3S 11.1V LiPO $36.60
1 ea. Used 3PM-2.4G with R603FF receiver. $140.00 shipped
1 ea. Punk Dig Used/new in the package. $60.00 shipped
1 ea. BWD XR-10 Electronics Tray/Battery Relocator $20.00 shipped.

I got it ready to run just in time for the big snow storm. I do have some carpet time on it, but cant wait to get her in the rocks.

I would like to get some better links. Do I need to bend my own or can I order them?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Terry

Welcome to the sweet world of Crawlers! I am new to the Crawler scene too and just got my setup on Saturday. Looks good!

BTW looks like you need to heat shrink your deans. The wrap looks way loose.

Anyone run or running them now? What are the pro's and con's?

I've had my first break, the punk dig isn't getting power to the front motor and won't lock the front axle either. I sent Robin with Punk Rc and email on 2/15 and left a voice mail. No response yet. I would like to have this one repaired, and I also ordered another one from him so I would have an extra one. Now I'm a little concerned, even though I've heard nothing but good things about Punk Rc.

This is my first RC car and I'm really impressed so far. I've been watching a lot of the other guys that post vids up and wow can they drive. I'm going to need alot of time on the rocks to get the feel for it!!!

I like the look of those I hadn't seen them before. The milled out area is sweet looking.

They are basically the same as the Axial's but have the center milled out like you said. Actually look pretty good. I hadn't seen them before either.

The only bad thing about those (and the Axials) is that they still use 3mm hardware. When I ran the Axials I drilled and tapped them to accept 4mm hardware and changed to Revo rod ends.

I'm running the 3mm hardware. What are the problems that are common with it?
I'll have to find the 4mm hardware and upgrade my links.

Hard falls will stripp out the rod ends with 3mm. 4mm has more thread depth and holds much better. The Revo ends are also much beefier.

100% agree with Harley. You need 4mm

The BWD delrin sets are nice and he said he was going to make them in 4mm. PM them and ask if 4mm are ready yet, or you could buy them as is and tap them for 4mm. Thats what I use for lowers. I run 30 deg axial links for uppers.

Perfect, thats what I needed to hear. That makes sense more material will add the needed strength. I already ordered the BWD links, I'll have to wait and see what size they are when they arrive.

I received my new punk dig from Punk RC. It's performing like new again. I would still like to see if Punk RC can repair my other punk dig as my wife is eyeing my car, I might need it for her. I may have to get her one so she'll leave mine alone

I ordered these lastnight
http://www.crawlerinnovations.com/product/id/10

I also ordered the t1e lowers but he sent me a email saying he didnt carry those anymore, so hes sending me some new links that he just had made.

There a little different than the t1e ones but youll have to get Eddie to explain how they are. But they sound like there the right stuff.

Sweet, man now I'm thinkin I may have to get a set of those delrin links to try out. They already have the 4mm hardware installed. Let me know how you like them and put up some pics.

Did he send you a pic of the new links or a link to them?
