Default My ever evolving xr

Well I preordered this xr last year and ended up trading it to my buddy for his honcho but I ended up selling the honcho and buying my xr back. He never ran it when I gave it to him all he did was put a new Novak m2 dig in it and buy a lipo. So it's nothing fancy:

All stock except for the big bores and mini T springs.

Comments and help will be needed as I get more into upgrading this.

Invest in some Vanquish parts. HD motor plates, aluminum gear cases, and some rc4wd hardened steel gears. Stock bearings are very thin walled and they will fail...causing your gears to fail. Vanquish HD motor plates will come with larger bearings. Alloy gear cases will help with a more rigid construction to hold the gears together. The rc4wd gears are hardened and mesh together better than stockers. It'll all cost some dough but it will all be worth the investment

You'll save money by replacing the gears all at once. As you break gears you run the risk or ruining more by having the fragments go through the rest of the gear train. Grab the RC4WD gears when you can.

Is there a big weight difference between the axial and rc4wd ones. I want this to be as light as I can get it when I'm done.

Here's a few more shots. Nothing special just stock.

Has anyone run the m2 with a dx3e? Thad what I'm using till I switch to my duel mamba mini micros.

I think they may be lighter. But I could be wrong. There worth it even if they're a little heavier

rc4wd gears are about 10g heaveir than a stock set. They are heavy, but well worth the peace of mind. Plus the weight is down low.

It's both cheaper than the Axial set, and virtually bomb proof. i'd lose weight someplace esle.

Looks like your body is too short Adam. Has to be 12.5" long tip to tip.

I can't decide on a chassis first decision is bodied or bodiless.
I like the looks of the body more for the most part but ive seen people hit gates not make climbs and stuff because of the body.

Got this thing running today. I gotta mess with the m2 a little but it's pretty fun to screw around with.

I don't know how to adjust the break on my radio I'm using a dx3e. I talked to Charlie from Novak he said it sounds like it had a bad brain board and they are going to send me a new one. Hopefully before Crawlapoluza.

Is mcmaster Carr the best place to get the brass inserts or can u get them from a place like ace or lowes.

Took the truck out today was really impressed even without the dig it did very well here are some pics.

Well all in all it was a good time. Ended up pulling a rod end off my shock cap but other then that it's all good. My servo is getting real hot I adjusted the endpoints and that seemed to help some but it's still pretty warm. I'm hoping to get some motor savers from BWD this weekend that would sure help these cans out.

Sorry for the crappy pics all I got is my iPhone/:

After I ran a few packs threw this today I remembered I had a brand new set of donas then I saw the lower links I have on my sportsman and thought hey that may work. I measured sure enough just the right size. So now I'm running Strc bent aluminum rear links will go to test them out tomorrow.

Had a good time at crawlaplooza to bad my m2 crapped out on me. Here's a pic in Disney.

Got a package from Novak with my new brain board I put it in ran pretty good but I only had dig on one motor so I proceeded to try to program it like I did before as the directions say and wouldn't u know now I have no dig again well looks like I'll be getting a better esc prolly duel mamba max micros or sidewinder micros.
