| Bearing problem...looking for solution
I am running the Axial hardened, lightweight gears and titanium shafts with Vanquish cases, plates, & upper link mounts. The problem I am having is with the bearing (5x8x2.5mm) on the end of the drive gear/idler gear shaft. I have exploded two of those bearings so far and have no idea what is causing it. Anyone have any clues? Thanks!

Those little bearings stink, to say the least. I replaced all the 5x8 bearings with the Traxxas bushings. They are holding up real well |

My buddy runs the TRX bushings on the end of the shafts, and breaks them everytime we go crawling! He even dremmeled out the plastic to fit 2 trx bushings in there, and broke both of them yesterday! Crazy $hit! I got the VP upper axle cases so I could eliminate those tiny bearings/bushings. Last edited by ROWDY RACING; 09-25-2011 at 01:43 PM. |

Check to make sure the shaft is not bent also. That can lead to premature bearing failure. It happened on my front axle and I run bushings to replace the outer bearings since they would die often.

Checked the shaft, it is ok, as I expected it is fairly a fairly new titanium one. I will give the bushing a shot and see what happens. I cannot see spending the change on the Pricey VP Axle Housings, especialy since I am currently in the middle of a Wraith/TTC build and getting ready to start an FOFF build. Thanks to every that replied! |
