Default cboggs making "progress"

After selling the Mantis I needed a new chassis to put these axles under and found a deal on a RCP Progress chassis. For this build I wanted a chassis that I could put a body on and loved the look of the progress. Here is some specs and pics of the setup. It is currently sitting at 4#12oz. RTR.
RCP progress chassis with Chaotic Crawlers ti links
VP front axle case, motor plate, trans case, upper link mounts, lockouts, knuckles and chubs

Rowdy Racing front battery mount and electronics mount
Traxxas Big Bore 4" shocks with mini-t springs (silver front, red rear)
Team Brood 35T quad mag motors
Mamba Micro Pros stacked with castle bec

Looks great! I love everything but the body!

So why did you sell the Mantis? Just not your driving style? It takes a totally different approach when crawling with it....

Torsion just wasnt my thing and I couldnt get it to do what I needed. The Mantis definately had the looks hands down, but since we are into the rainy down pour season I like the body rigs to help keep everything dry. I will hopefully make it out to test this car soon.

Not yet, it feels like its balanced good without the weights since almost all the weight is already on the front axle with the electronics mount. I am thinking of trying it out this way and can easily add the knuckle weight back on if it doesnt perform well. Kinda stuck on what shock oil weight to try with it this way, currently has 30 wt. in all 4 shocks.

Knuckle weights added and running 60wt shock oil in the front and 45wt in the rear. The suspension is alot more active with the added weight and the more upright shocks. Now sitting at 5# 3oz. and I have a few ideas to loose weight in other areas. From the little time I have driving this it is a pretty sweet chassis. Hopefully tomorrow I can make it out for more tuning.

Congrates on the sweet rig. Ive been using his build for a rough guide on how to get this car started and also been grabbing ideas off Nabil and Jakes builds. Not alot of these chassis posted so keep us updated on upgrades/setups.

Looks good. I'm surprised that you sold the Mantis. Can't wait to see how it does on the rocks.

Ive been making some changes trying to figure out a problem with the rear unloading on sidehills and well, pretty much everything. The shocks have been swapped out to some Integy ones I had laying around that have the rod end on the cap and also put some angled rod ends on the shaft side. They are now angled in to the chassis and got Losi gold springs and 30wt. oil. Skid at the front is alittle high at 3.25" but will do for now till I fix the leaking Big Bores. I will get out to try the new setup hopefully before our next comp on Sunday. After the weekend this chassis will get a little carbon fiber treatment. Heres some pics of the new setup.

looks great....internal springs in the rear will fix the side hilling
A Carbon Fiber PRO Progress is in the works
with all the tweaking we've done on the Progress
I think I can eliminate the adjustable arms (to save weight)
It may end up being the lightest chassis out there.

lookin' good Boggs
Personaly, I liked the upper links inside the chassis. It helped the clearance issues that this frame has in that area. Othrewise, this will crawl like crazy!!!!
If anyone wants to try one of these chassis for half of retail price, I've got my used one in the classifieds Search "Progress Chassis".

Quick question for you. Why did you choose to get the VP axle top for the front and not the back? Were you blowing more fronts than back?

Never had any issue with the rear, only blew the stock gears in the front. Its just there for extra insurance and gets rid of the traxxas bushing I was running. Also added a little weight to the front axle which helps me not need as much knuckle weight and looks good too. I run it on both my XR10's only the other is black and hard to notice, never heard any noise from gear skippage since going to the VP axle top.
