Default Its a BWD THING, build one, you will understand!

So BuckIMod drops by the shop again (you are the man!) and put me to work on another build. This chassis is probably the Go-To from BWD as of yet.

first chassis that the links (and even an XR at that) do not bind or hinder the articulation as well as stay out of the way of extreme steering and caster angles. shocks are 4" big bores with cap mods. perfect size.

RC4WD dig, sidewinder, and futaba 603FF rx just do fit inside this chassis. since the battery is on the axle, everything else went way up front as much as possible. COG is about 1" under skid, and 1/8" to the front of front lower link mount at skid. front motor isnt as clocked as before, but to get my caster back is worth the tradeoff. a BWD motor sav'r is up front to make things smoo-o-o-oother. the rear never needs one.

stock sedonuts with 5.5 DDs up front, OG foams out back, fronts are dh's loaded 1.2" and rears are slw .700" light as a feather. so far, it feels very capable and sidehilling seems to be top notch. best I could ask for till I can get it on the rocks Sunday Sunday Sundayyyyyyy!

ok so first time out on the rocks with it, untuned, no more than a shakedown run to make sure the magic smoke creators work, I took 2nd in AM class while running pro 5 minute rules with no 20pt carry. I think I logged 2 or 3 reverses all day with it. what got me was the lack of rollover capability from brutal rock setups, not the rig being the issue. slick floors and dust/dirt/marbles within several transitions. Had I had the 6 minutes for AM class I could have completed the second course for a win. Great day on the rocks, KILLER chassis that flat out works, I think BuckIMod wants his THING back... lol

Nice Job! Seems like you like it a little better than The Mantis. VN1500 Does some good work with his Mantis. I like my THING,and if I'm not careful my thing is going to turn BLUE soon.

Nice one. How"d it feel to beat John with what use to be his rig? Be good to see what you can do with it and makes me more inclined by seeing your positive feedback and others what my next Pro rig will be if theres another anytime soon (2 pro rigs already lol).

With the rocks at our winter comp spot being new, its a matter of good luck when I win LOL since we are plotting courses and lines that have not ever been ran before. The THING is a much more smoother and stable platform than the Mantis. I was struggling with some 40 turn motors that are now being rebuilt. when they come back, they should be some real monsters. I am thinking about going with a different front pinion (1 tooth higher at 15) to go back to what I was used to doing with a Berg axled machine.

The THING was just his old chassis, I had the rest of the rig to add to it. I even gave him back his skins LOL

Like most of the rest of the BWD lineup, its a winner even before tuning and getting used to it. A definite upgrayedd from all other previous chassis I had been used to running. Its definitely a keeper!

if you weren't so hard on your THING, it wouldn't turn blue!
