| Rear motor stalls when climbing steep angle
First off, not sure if this should go here or in electronics. If it's supposed to go in electronics please move. I finally got my XR10 wired up today and go to drive it around a little. It's great. The 35t motors are exactly what I wanted. The issue I'm seeing though is that when I try to drive up a very steep angle the rear motor stops turning. If I nudge the throttle a little more or less it will start to go. It doesn't matter which ESC it's connected to it still does the same. If this is "clod stall" any tips or links to stopping it in the XR? I'm running the same size pinion front/rear and it's 13 tooth. |

yep its clod stall. not sure what your radio is but if you have dual esc you can dial some of it out. it also depends on how heavy your truck is and what kind of motor (hw or machine wound). also if your using a single esc an a dig i would go one tooth lower out back to combat this

from you build thread you are using a hacked gt3b and castle sidewinder scts so i would say you just need to dial out the clod stall by changing the mix % to give the rear a bit more throttle. thats what i do with mine.

if you are running a dig switch instead of two ECS, like me, mine does it and all other rigs i've seen do it. My theory is this: the ESC is sending one output signal out that get's sent to both motors. It's basically telling the motor to throttle at "x" position. Often one of the axles will have more bind on it and it will still be getting the same signal as before and the same signal as the other motor (axle) that has less bind on it. Thats why giving it a little more throttle will cause it to spin and often the front will spin faster for a second.

I thought that to dial out clod stall you overdrive the front.

Thanks for the info guys. I will see what settings I need to add just a wee bit more throttle on the back. Either that or I can set the proportional so it's smaller steps instead of 20%. Would I need to go all the way down to 80% reduced for front or rear?

on mine i have the smaller steps set in increments of 5% usually setting it to 90% fr does the job for me when i need it
