| Comp-winning xr10 as stock as possible today ?
Hi guys, I recently built a second XR10 - I haven't done it before because I bought 2 axles to create my actual SA 3.5"- and I did it with the leftovers from the first build. I made some improvements though on the steering - Ti long tierod -, Vp ackerman knuckles with Dlux weights, Big bores suspension, RC4WD gears rear & front with Vp plates, CF wheels and planning to put a XC-1 body on it. The electronics ; a BRXL with punk dig. I thought about the CF chassis parts, some Ti links (Vp ones maybe)... I know perfectly know that the driver's skills make 95% of the job but I'm wondering what that rig could need to fight against my SA for exemple ? I apologize if the question looks stupid but would appreciate any advice... Thanks. E. |

Seems to me the biggest battle is going to be to smooth the bottom of the stock skid out so you don't get stuck on stuff. All the screw holes really like to grab stuff. Other than that, the usual things that set the aftermarket chassis above stockers, getting weight low and forward for vert climbing and side hills I'd suggest rowdy bat mount and 850mah batteries or smaller, decent lower links front and rear (I made my own with 3/16 AL rod 5347 traxxas ends drilled out to 5mm and die the rod to 5mm after beveling the ends, lower elec in chassis, Maybe just the VP links would be simpler for ya |

For a comp winning stock chassis.. a lot of driver needed.. lol.. I happen to crawl with a member here that mixes it up against my chaotic SMASH, turbofest's t1e sniper, jslick an his wes made chassis, etc.. he actually took 2nd place today at the comp.. his screen name is Hildy and has a build not all that far down... He runs a punk and fxr, semi done axles an homemade lower links with the stock chassis.. he does killer with it! |

Check out Bender's XR build. That truck is mostly stock (axial AL upgrades)and has not changed in forever. He has kicked ass with that truck as recently as the 2013 Westc Coast Shootout where he took 10th place.
