Default Holmes br mini dual

Anybody running this setup. If so do you like it? Thinking of switching out the fxr and punk setup I'm using right now or should I just buy another fxr and smash them.

I've got em. First time for me to use dual ESCs. They're working great so far and it saves the effort of having to smash anything.

Either way you go will be more benefit then a single FXR and Punk. FXR's are great little ESC's (ran them for a couple years). The BR's to me feel alot smoother amd controllable.

Thanks addicted. If they are smoother than the fxr they should be great. I like the fxr, just don't want to smash and solder when I can just get these already done

I JUST bought my BR Mini's from HH, and I actually replaced the exact same setup that you have. After I got them I yanked everything out of my XR and dropped the mini's in. Figured I'd keep the FXR and Punk Dig juuuuust in case, well... the FXR and punk dig are for sale. I love the BR minis. They operate flawlessly, SUPER light weight, simply great setup. I also REALLY appreciate the HH support from both the company itself and all their team drivers here on the forum. I had just a few questions about the minis when I received them and was openly greeted with all the support and help I needed.

2 Thumbs up for Holmes Hobbies BR minis

p.s. I obviously just freshly set mine up so its fresh in my mind so if you need any help please don't hesitate to ask.

Only issue some people seem to have with Smashed BR mini?'a is overheating. Which is why HH recommends rather large wife's (by today's comp standards) to help disappears heat generated in the PCB's.

I have a set but have yet to install them. I do like FXR's though and had never had an issue with them. They are know for weaker drag brake than their Castle and HH counterparts but I haven't noticed it to be an issue.

You can always pick up a used FXR I the classifieds and send the pair to CreationFab (Chris the Battery Man) to have him do the smash for you. He always does top notch work.

Whatever the case, make sure to add a Castle 10 amp BEC if you haven't already.

I don't think anyone is having a problem with them "overheating". They do get warmer than most controllers out there...but John has specified that they can take up to 180*F and most people are reporting that they average around 145-150*F operating temperature...so they've got a ways to go before they hit the upper limit. The larger gauge wire can help to dissipate the heat...as well as improving power transfer. There's nothing wrong with them...they're just new and different than what people have become accustomed to.

They DO offer incredible low end control and great punch!

Thanks for all the input. Still trying to decide if I should go this route or just buy another fxr and send them to Chris the battery man and have him do a smash job on them. Gonna cost the same amount either way. Decisions, decisions

Yes they can and yes I have. I ran a pair of these on my Super with a 4S 800mah pack. My rig was running berg axles with 8" tires. They never had a problem.

I have a set an I am not totally sold on them yet. They are power hungry and made my batteries from last season dump midcourse. Time for new batteries and give it another go.

I have been running mine since last season with zero issues.
I put alot of packs in and haven't had any batteries give out. I know some batteries (per brand) I don't comp with. But they are the same batteries that I wouldn't use with my fxr's before I switched over..

Time for batteries John.. Check out the Gforce 500mah 50c 3s.. Like 8$ a piece..
Talk about an explosion of power when needed!
