Seen the new kit on the way so was curious about this. on 4S usage, how has temps been on the RTR motors which appear to be castle 1515s? Anyone try a buggy sized 1/8 motor instead? |

Go truggy [4038] size if you choose a T8 for the XL. The buggy motor would be stressed to push this monster around.

I'm normally a Tekin guy but I like the Yeti XL RTR combo for the simple reason it allows for 4s-6s operation, your not locked in.

For my build I was planning to go a littel cheaper with the electronics (except the servo of course) and my thought was a Hobbywing 1800kv (4274) or a Leopard 1600 kv (4082), or even a Leapard 1480kv (4092) paired with a Hobbywing 150a waterproof ESC. My thought is that those set-ups would have enough speed to have fund with, while still being able to crawl a little. Any thoughts/advice on those motors? Does anyone know if a 92 mm (Leapard 1480kv) motor would fit?

After my last posting, it occurred to me that I would really like to ask someone who has the Yeti XL to tell me how much space, if any, there is around the motor they are using (for reference, I think the RTR motor is about 40mm x 75mm) Can a kind souls with a Yeti XL and a ruler let me know what the maximum can length/width is for this vehicle? I am thinking that 1800kv would definitely fit, the 1600kv would probably fit, and the 1480kv would probably NOT fit, but I have never seen one of these in person so I don't know... | ![]() Agree. Plus I really can't think of a single complaint about the RTR combo. I've run 4s and 6s, both with zero issues. 6s is ridiculously fun!

With the kit version and the rear sway bar installed it limits the length of the motor. The sway bar runs behind the motor. I have a Leopard 4082 1600kv and it fits with a couple mm to spare before hitting the rear sway bar. So that is pretty much the longest motor that will fit unless you want to take the sway bar off. Then you could go with a longer motor. BTW I chose a hobbywing 4074 2200kv sensored motor I had here from another project that had been parted out. Should be plenty of motor and I wanted the sensored for smoother start ups. I havent run it yet (still finishing the kit build). |

I am hearing nothing but good things about the 2200kv in this vehicle, I just have a feeling that for what I want, which is a bit of trailing/crawling/speed rolled into one, a lower kv might be the way to go. It seems to me like the 1600kv 4092 might be ideal...

Going Tekin 1700kv 4038 running double turnigy 3000mah 5s 30-40C lipo in parallel to give me 6000mah at 18.5 volts....no idea what gearing will end up so I bought a few different size options and will decide from temps.
