Bought them with cracked wheels, stripped ring and pinions, as well as bad bearings. Hard to believe, I know.

Decided to ruin the tire and just cut the sidewall out. It's a temporary fix.

Got a couple hours of run time out of it but a mystery click got louder and louder. It would only do it on a launch off a jump and only when the rear tires were under load. Assumed it was the rear diff but it turned out fine. That only leaves the front diff

Slipper is slipping as well. Not sure what's gonna happen there but it won't be replaced with Axial parts.

Parts list so far:
CI foams
Dhawk steering
Dhawk spacers
Dhawk rear lockouts
Fast Eddie bearings
Tekin T8 with 18t pinion (160 degrees max recorded temp)
Tekin rx8 with no drag brake and brake force at 30%
Baja front springs

Not going to rebuild the front until I can afford an aluminum bulkhead. No sense throwing good parts in shitty plastic.

I'm going to give mine a couple more runs before I take the trans out and check out the slipper, but this looks like a great way to go.
Robinson Racing Gen 3 slipper for 1/10 Yeti works.

Graft them together into an 8x8 XXL Yeti Limo!

Aluminum bulkhead ordered.
Cranked the slipper down for now and threw a new locknut on it.
Had do sell one of them to keep the other one going. Can't believe how quickly these dry up funds.

if you purchased a yeti XL and have a limited budget, you're gonna have a bad time.

Ran it for a couple hours today in 80* weather.
Hub bearings, transmission, and batteries were the same temp. Speed control never got over 120 and motor stays around 165*

Pretty successful run.

They should hook up pretty good at Taylors.

Rocklox and 2 stage foams are on the way.
Found 2 more stripped ring and pinions and a bunch of metal flakes floating inside the spider gear lube

Dhawk spacers and bulkhead bought a little more running time but I'm thinking the spider area is flexing now. Bearings are new fast eddys on each rebuild. Not sure what else could be flexing enough to let the gears slip.

Another set of ring and pinions started skipping. This is the second set on this truck and about to be a third. Every single part is new including pins, spiders, gears, housings, shims, bearings, etc.

Front details:
300k fluid
Dhawk spacers
Dhawk bulkhead
Fast Eddy bearings
Every shim combination you can imagine including modifying the c-clip to fit one more and output shims to adjust side to side play as well as more contact.

Rear axle:
500k fluid
New housing
Multiple shim combos
Fast Eddy bearings
Dhawk lockouts
Every shim combination you can imagine including modifying the c-clip to fit one more and output shims to adjust side to side play as well as more contact.

This is a conservative setup imo.
Tekin T8
Tekin RX8 GEN2
ZERO drag brake
4s
15T to 18T pinion depending on conditions
Slipper is slipping.

Anybody know what else I can do? I really like this truck and feel like once the bugs are gone it'll be my favorite rig of all time.
