Default Bearings taking out Diffs

So just a heads up start looking more closely after the outside pinion bearings. The one closest to the drive shaft connection.

This is another way to kill the Diff gears and housings.

I ran 4S during the winter but when summer arrived by buddies actually got their brushless summits running, and we have been doing some slower hill climbing stuff. But 4S was overkill when they were always locked and in low gear.

So I ran the truck on 2S, since the two speed hasn’t been released yet. it was just as fast as theirs and I thought that I’d never have an issue with the diffs – well I was wrong.

For some reason I assumed (make an ass out of U and me) that the pinion bearings were decently sealed from dirt from the factory. I’ve cleaned them (i.e. sprayed them with air after a run, and lubed them), but this last weekend they let go, both the front and the rear. The bearings decided to leave their respective housings and in so doing ate the diff gears, both front and rear.

I’ve got some fast eddy’s on order and I'm hoping that will be the end of that issue. Anyone else seen this same thing when they go.

Just thought that this could be a large part of the multiple diff failures that we have heard about / seen.

That first shot looks nasty...and not the good kind of nasty. The bad kind, that costs money and time and you don't really have anything to show for it because it's not new tires, new paint, or you just ended up avoiding jail time.

I put ceramics in mine and the Dhawk bulk a few weeks ago. I still think everything I drive it that the diffs have blown. It's kind of fun though because when nothing breaks I feel like I'm an awesome driver.

I dig the homemade panels. That ride looks well used and awesome. Yeti's need dirt! The bearings don't.
