| Rear diff cover
Anyone else have this problem? I took off my rear diff cover to check out the inside and noticed one half was black with no grease and it looks like the shaft has been grinding on the gear. The other side has grease and looks ok. |

| I think I figured it out. I missed two screws that act as set screws I guess on the side of the axle adapter. That must have been why the axle was rubbing. Here's a pic of the inside. If you notice only the right side drive is caked with dirt. Really weird. Do you think that because I was missing a bolt in the lockout would cause all that dirt in there. The bearing was caked and all. I had to take it all apart and clean it. Last edited by THX_138; 01-09-2016 at 09:31 AM. |

Most of that is probably plastic. The screws you missed probably didn't allow dirt to get in.

My friend had the same issue. He forgot to put one of the two screw that lock in the axle end and we bash in a sand pit. The axle and differential housing completly filled with sand and it poped open the cover. I think that the missing screw is your issue. I find it odd too that so much stuff can get inside from a such small hole. |
