| New XL owner and random question for you guys (and girls)...
So, my new to me Yeti XL is on its way to me yeah! I got a lightly used one off eBay with some minor upgrades and it was the kit version too. Ordered my batteries, charger, transmitter and receiver so they will all arrive about the same time. It's been probably 20 years since I have played with an RC car so I'm super excited! So for my first question on this forum is this....I live close to the ocean and it is really humid and salty and I do not like rusty screws and bolts. I know they make a stainless steel screw kit for the XL but I am not a fan of shiny things. Does anyone out there make an aluminum screw kit that's black? Other suggestions? Thanks in advance 👍🏽

I would stay away from RC screws. I've heard bad story's about there screws. Team KnK is legit but I'm not sure if they have a screw kit for the XL. I wouldn't run aluminum screws either, they wouldn't last on a XL.

RTL Fastener is a mail order company that provides 12.9 grade steel screws - not stainless but the toughest steel screws you can get. They have roughly double the tensile strength of your average stainless screw. FWIW, I live in SoCal near enough to the ocean that I get the salt breeze, and rusting hasn't been a huge problem so long as I take a minute to clean up after I run. The turnbuckles on my SCT rusted way more than just about any of the screws did, and those were easy to take of with some sandpaper. For me, the risk of breaking the weaker stainless screws when I'm bashing way outweighs the risk of rust, but of course to each their own. |

Also, aluminum screws can't be magnetic, magnetized screws are much easier to work with when dropped, lost, or are in hard to reach places.
